Mr. Vanderbilt's visionary mind, which was far beyond othersof his time, and what he did is still so important to us today in protecting our forests. Did you know he had developed the first forest management program in America? Our forest managers all over the country still use the principles of his plan today to manage over 100 million acres of national forests and national parks. He started the first school of forestry which became the foot-print for our forest service.
