Hello and welcome to the Heart of England region. After a career in fashion manufacturing I qualified as a Blue Badge Tour Guide in 2001. Since then I have specialised in providing personalised, private tours of Birmingham and surrounding region. I love to share my enthusiasm with visitors from UK and abroad. As a 'born and bred Brummie', I have seen many changes to Birmingham over the last 25 years; from a city with a reputation for heavy industry Birmingham has become a highly regarded centre of excellence in all areas of business and culture. A wide variety of restaurants, great shopping, museums and galleries plus numerous local attractions make Birmingham a popular tourist destination with leisure and business visitors alike. Just a forty minute drive from Birmingham city centre are the famous 'Shakespeare Country' towns of Stratford upon Avon and Warwick with the Cotswold hills beyond. Whatever your reason for visiting and however much or little time you have to spare, I would be delighted to tailor a walking and/or driving tour that will help you discover the hidden. . . Heart of England. Hope to see you soon. Overview of your Birmingham tour

Birmingham's motto is 'Forward' and we will see how fitting this is as the city is constantly evolving. We begin our walk at the famous 'Bull Ring' around which, the medieval market town of Birmingham was founded. Taking a gentle stroll via busy shopping centers, quiet back roads, and historic canal paths we discover how a small, medieval market town grew into a giant of the Industrial Revolution when Birmingham became known as 'the city of a thousand trades. Along the way, we hear stories behind the people who have helped to make my home city a modern-day center of commerce and culture. From here we continue through bustling main streets and quiet back roads, through Victoria Square, and into the area known as 'Paradise' currently undergoing extensive regeneration. We make a brief visit to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery where you can see the famous Pre Raphaelite collection and Saxon Hoard. At the Library of Birmingham, we visit the secret garden where we can enjoy far-reaching views across the city.

I had the best afternoon with Diane, tailored to what was most important to me about my visit to Birmingham. My expectations were exceeded. I expected to see a lot and learn a lot but the added bonus was to spend time with Diane, a Birmingham native, who was very knowledgeable, interesting and sweet. I felt immediately welcome and comfortable. I cannot recommend her highly enough and if ever I need a private tour guide again in the area (or beyond for that matter), I would definitely reach out to Diane as she has deep experience well beyond Birmingham. Thank you Diane!

My family very much enjoyed our walking tour of Birmingham with Diane. She has a clear love for the city and brought its history to life in an interesting and engaging way, including for our kids aged 16 & 12. We particularly liked seeing the canals in the center of town and hearing about how the gangsters featured in Peaky Blinders came to be. We also appreciated Diane’s flexibility to modify the itinerary, given our last-minute time constraints. She even offered to drive us to save time, though we opted to keep it a walking tour. We can’t recommend Diane highly enough!

You can't go wrong with Diane! She made an acre of Birmingham, UK, seem like a paradise in Utopia. Actually now can't wait to go back to that city after what was our first visit ever. Danny & Diana

Diane was very informative and loads of information to pass on. Nothing was any trouble. Even though the day was very wet Diane did the best for us. Rating 5 out of 5 stars.

We had a wonderful experience of Birmingham! Thanks to Diane who is very friendly, accommodating and professional in giving us a tour of Birmingham! It was a very personal and warm experience that gave us a very good impression of the city. She was very mindful of our needs and went out of her way to accommodate them. She even used her car to take us around the city and took us to the train station so we can buy our tickets back to Leicester.

Wonderful guide. Helped us locate a family plot at local church. Diane also showed us all around the city. We had a lovely afternoon and we would hire her again. Very accommodating. Excellent guide.
