Overview of your Sanliurfa tour

Harran was founded at some point between the 25th and 20th centuries BC, possibly as a merchant colony by Sumerian traders from Ur. Over the course of its early history, Harran rapidly grew into a major Mesopotamian cultural, commercial and religious center. It was made a religiously and politically influential city through its association with the moon-god Sin; many prominent Mesopotamian rulers consulted with and renovated the moon-temple of Ekhulkhul in Harran. Han el Ba'rur The remains of the Ayyubid dynasty Han el Ba'rur, a caravansary built in 1228 to service the local trade caravans on the way of the silk road. Sogmatar The Sogmatar Cult Center was built in the 2nd century AD to worship the Solar, Lunar, Stellar and Planetary gods. 7 circular structures, which are located around the Sacred Hill and on the hills, represent Sun, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Mercury.
