Carmen is very knowledgeable. This was a wonderful way to be sure we were seeing a few places we probably have not found on our own and be sure we were choosing traditional Salamancan foods.

Visiting a place is more than just walking through it; you must feel it from within I can make you discover Salamanca through its legends, its secrets, its riddles. . . Let its magic seduce you. Let your senses awaken. Let yourself be touched. My name is Carmen T. I am a licensed guide. Salamanca is my home town and of course I am totally in love with it. Guiding for me is not a job; it is a way of living. I love my city, I love people and I love talking. . . then it is great and really easy for me¡¡¡¡, that is why I need to be sure that at the end of the day, you will think you are in the most beautiful and magic place in the world. I think that city tours have to be fun¡ your have to be surprised, amused, thrilled. . . . you have to move back to another time and come back to the present, to get a good knowledge of the city way of life. Everything started when I was only 6 years old and my grandfather showed me the Cathedral, the University building, the narrow streets. . . everything was so big, so mysterious. . . . then I decided to become a guide. I can offer you made-to-measure visits upon request, which can be adapted to everyone needs and taste, to make your visit special, with a personal, human touch. Special license issued by Dirección General de Turismo. Consejeria de Cultura y Turismo. Junta de Castilla y León. Técnico en Empresas y Actividades Turisticas.

I usually go for tapas four times per week. A lot? Socializing while eating is never enough for Spanish people! I'll show you my favourite places so you can live the experience as a true local. But where "Tapas" come from? It is said that King Alfonso X, el Sabio or "the Wise One" made sure that Castilian taverns served wine accompanied by something to eat, so that the wine would not go straight to the clients' heads. Out of this decret, Tapas were born. Tapas have become an important part of the gastronomic scene in Spain. Tapa is the Spanish word for lid and describes the old custom of serving a slice of ham covering the mouth of a wineglass. By doing so, the wine was protected from air and ham or other titbits made a tasty appetizer. In Salamanca some of the traditional local food is the famous Jamón and the delicious Tortilla Española, but also some special cheeses and vegetables and "Farinato": a Spanish type of Haggis! I personally love all of them: you'll tell me your favourite after trying them:)

I planned this tour for shortly after I arrived in Salamanca, and it was really the perfect introduction to that great city. I learned about the history of this place and got all of the information I needed to decide how to spend the next day there on my own as I enjoyed some seriously good tapas. Touring with Carmen really helped me make the most of my time in Salamanca.
Carmen was excellent. A native of Salamanca, she knew her town like the back of her hand. I thoroughly enjoyed all the tapas hideouts, especially the horse stables. She also spoke to me in Spanish and was patient with my earnest attempts to learn the language. Although I was tired from my flight, I had an enjoyable evening!
-Plaza Mayor, stop for taking photos. -Pass by Rua Mayor Street -Going inside the first "tapas" bar -Anaya Square, stop for taking photos -Going inside the second "tapas " bar - Admire University surroundings and photo stop. -Going inside the third "tapas" place (optional) The itinerary can be modified according to traveller's interests (so do not hesitate to contact me for a personalized tour) and can slightly change depending on weather conditions.
