If I told you I always wanted to be a guide, it would not be true. As a coal miner's daughter in a coal mine town in a period when Asturias wasn't a touristic place, guiding wasn't an option. I always wanted to work with people (as a teacher, hostess, actress, and psychologist), and at the end of my last high school year in 1989, I came across tourism by chance. By that time our Universities had Tourism degrees for students to work elsewhere. However, step by step we invented tourism in Asturias. Now I love my area even more because I'm part of its history. Actually, two articles of the law that regulates guiding in Asturias were suggested by me and I'm very proud of them. If I told you English is my 2nd language, it'd also not be true because we could only study French in primary school. So when I was 16 I decided to attend private lessons. Nobody studied languages "just for fun" in those days, not in my hometown, so the teacher was surprised by my reasons to study English: "to understand songs and to travel". By the time I started my tourism studies, those lessons were very useful but just the beginning. And yes, I traveled a bit and I'm even able to sing in English accompanied by my acoustic guitar in an amateur way, and usually guide English-speaking guests. Later I also learned Italian and German and recently I've started with Portuguese. If I told you I've been working as a guide all the time since I finished my studies in 1992, I'd lie again. The fact is that especially at the beginning, when tourism wasn't so important here, I also worked in a hotel, a museum, 4 tourism offices, and giving private language lessons. It's good to see tourists from the other side of the desk so I can better understand how things work. It helps me when guiding, which is what I really want to do for the rest of my professional life. Thanks for reading and considering my services! See you soon in the Principality of Asturias! Asturias Guide License Cathedral of Oviedo Guide License Botanical Gardens of Gijón Guide License Ways of Sefarad Guide License Language School: Superior Degrees in English, French, Italian and German I always include a tasty break proposing something tyical from the place but you'll be free to have another thing you prefer. The idea is sitting a bit and relax in a typical place. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Overview of your Oviedo tour

There are films, books, lectures… about the Spanish Civil War. However, few know abroad how everything started and it was exactly here in Asturias. If you want to understand and also help me to understand with your questions such a horrible event while you enjoy green landscapes and a manificent city (Oviedo) reborn after so much destruction, prepare confortable shoes to go into machine gun nests and walk in Oviedo. Moreover, Oviedo is the starting point of the Primitive St. James Way and Grado (where the remains are) is the first stop so we'll perhaps see pilgrim walking by like in the Middle Ages.

Your Oviedo tour itinerary

·We'll depart to Grado municipality in our Mercedes van with a professional driver. ·Reaching the area, we'll see Civil war heritage covering original machine gun nests and trenches. ·We'll then head to Grado to see the town with its old traditional buildings, indiano mansions, church, town hall and perhaps some pilgrims passing by. ·We'll enjoy a typical local pastry related to Saint James Way: el pastel del peregrino + coffee or tea ·On our way there, we'll stop at the Peñaflor Bridge, so important to decide the war in Asturias. ·Next, we'll drive to Oviedo to visit a very dammaged city in the 1934 coup d'état and the Spanish most destroyed Spanish city in the Civil War. We'll do a walking tour visiting the historical area focusing on the Civil War: - Cathedral - University - Campoamor Theatre - Archbishop Palace *If you have a specific itinerary in mind, send me a message for a customized tour.
