Hi, I’m Daniel — a licensed local guide and professional tour leader, born and raised in the Algarve, Portugal. This is not just where I work — it’s where I grew up. I was born in a small village near Lagos and spent my childhood exploring this region freely: historic towns, coastal trails, hidden beaches and local life. Later, I studied Tourism at the University of the Algarve in Faro, lived abroad in places like Amsterdam, Marrakech and Warsaw, and eventually chose to return home. The Algarve has always been my anchor. For over 10 years, I’ve been guiding travelers — especially American guests — through Southern Portugal, offering private, relaxed and meaningful experiences focused on history, culture, food, wine and landscapes. I believe a great tour is not about rushing from stop to stop, but about understanding a place and feeling connected to it. Because I know this region deeply, I enjoy sharing not just what you see, but the stories behind it — how locals live today, how traditions were shaped, and why this corner of Portugal is so special. My tours are always private, flexible and tailored to your interests, pace and comfort. If you have a special request or a specific idea, I’m happy to customize an experience around it. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable local guide who combines professionalism with a personal touch, I’d be delighted to show you my Algarve. This private full-day experience begins in Olhão, home to Algarve’s largest fishing community, and its iconic market - still used daily by locals, not staged for tourism. Walking through the stalls, you’ll experience the colors and aromas of coastal life, right by the Ria Formosa. I grew up visiting markets, and to me they remain one of the most honest ways to understand who we are and where we feel Algarve’s true soul. We then head to a family-run olive oil estate, where olive trees, presses and traditions come together. Olive oil is central to our Mediterranean diet, and here you’ll see how it’s made before enjoying a private picnic with carefully selected local products, enjoyed in a peaceful rural setting. We finish in Faro, a city that became a second home for me during my university years. In the old town, I’ll share both its layered history and the insider perspective of daily life, traditions and student culture. A relaxed, genuine day with someone who knows these places like the palm of his hand.
