My name is João Daniel Teixeira Freitas, Daniel for friends, and I was born in 1983, on Madeira island (Portugal). I promptly developed this positive and healthy addiction for water and everything on and in it. I have been navigating boats since childhood and I have restored, fixed, built, sailed and driven (navigated) all sorts and types of vessels. The Algarve has been my home for many years, especially the Ria Formosa Natural Park, since I was 4 years old I would spend my summer school holidays in one of the islands (Culatra) and soon started to learn about its beauty, rich nature, culture and the way of life of the people in this corner of the world, and I fell in love with it. I have been deepening both my knowledge and love for the place for many years. I've worked as a boat tour guide and a Skipper for the last 15 years, in traditional boats, sailboats, classic boats, luxury yachts, shuttle boats and fast boats. As a certified nature tour guide, I specialized in this ecosystem, its fauna and flora, its bird species and habits, its marine life, the geology and history of Ria Formosa Natural Park and the importance of this entanglement of small canals and sea entrances for the people that call it home. All throughout these years, I gathered knowledge that enables me to select the best this region has to offer to the people that visit us, offering activities that respect both the visitors time and intellect but also respecting my people's values, identity and way of life, as well as myself. The culmination of those years of experience is what I now propose for your enjoyment, something that encompasses safety and knowledge, with my boat "VENTURE", a life dream come true. I learned from the ocean about how to do things slowly and naturally, with no stress and no rush, just like nature does. And that I want to share with the world, to see, listen, taste, smell, breathe, feel, get of the spinning wheel even if for a moment, slow down and look around. Boat tour guide with 15 years experience in nautical Tourism, proficiency with different types of vessels (sailboats, powerboats, yacht). Experience in comercial (container), fishing vessels (trawlers). YachtMaster (Recreational vessels) Boat tours guide operating license nº. 87/2022 1st level High Seas Master (Recreational vessels, unlimited power, size, area of operations) STCW- High seas survival and rescue certificate Lifeguard training and certification Kayaking monitor certification 350kw Engine, Machinery, Mechanics certification Nautical fiberglass repairs and construction course Safety and health aboard vessels certificate Crowd management in emergency onboard, certificate International fisherman and comercial seamanship certification 2nd degree mariner (deckhand) Professional Fisherman license None.

Your Faro tour itinerary

·The tour will begin after we're gathered in Olhão's main pier. ·We'll then depart to the feeding area of the birds, where we may observe multiple bird species and low tide animals. ·We'll continue to sail to the Culatra island, where if weather permits, we'll stop to pay a visit to this picturesque fisherman's village. ·Next, we'll reach the inlet between the island of Culatra and the island of Armona where, depending on your interests or/and local tide and wind conditions we may get off the boat in the desert part of Culatra. Here you will really feel in the wild! ·At last, we'll sail back slowly to Olhão passing by the "Quinta de Marim", the "headquarters" of the natural park, where we may observe the old tide mill. *It's also possible to visit the fisherman's village of Armona instead of Culatra if that is your interest.

Transport details
Type: Private Transportation / Category: Boat

Our vessel is a classic design "sloop" or "whaler" type boat, designed and built as a 150 person capacity certified lifeboat that served onboard a warship, being built with fireproof material and virtually unsinkable because of it's floating safeguards. It has now the official capacity of 50 persons, but we prefer a maximum of 18 people onboard. It was slightly modified so it presents more modern and comfortable amenities without losing it's safety capabilities and timeless design charm.
