Hello! I hope you are having a nice day, My name is Lydia and I am a certified guide working in the Algarve region, Portugal since 2016. Algarve is mostly known for its beaches and warm summer temperatures, it also has plenty more to offer in terms of culture, heritage, gastronomy, music. . . and this is something I would like to show the people that choose to visit the area. I have a special passion for art history and especially how we can see art in local architecture, or other unexpected places, also something I would like to show to anyone who comes to the region! Why not get to know some of the towns a little better with a walking tour? It is the best way to experience the heart of these places, and their people. Some of the highlights include the capital city Faro, where we can still see the city walls and visit the famous bone-chapel. In the inland we have the city of Loulé, one of the wealthier old cities in the region, and this becomes quite clear when we see the gorgeous architecture along the streets, this can even be seen in the city's oldest caffè, founded in the early 20th century. Albufeira is also a nice option to visit, and many people do in the summer time! The town is known for mass-tourism, but still has a nice oldtown with sights to see and breath-taking views over the Atlantic! And if you don't find that perfect spot that you had thought of visiting during your stay in this short description, just let me know! There is so much to see and experience, I would love to prepare something taylor-made just for you. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you soon! SNATTI Portugal accredited guide (FEG member) since 2016 Bachelor's Degree in Tourism Information by the Estoril Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (2010-2013) Master's Degree in History and Heritage by the University of Algarve (2018-2021) None.

Faro's city center has plenty of sites to see and monuments to visit, as well as picturesque spots. Get to know a town that is often overlooked by visitors! Inside the city walls, we see Faro as if it were medieval times. Narrow streets that end in a big square in front of the cathedral. The cathedral is filled with (mostly) 18th-century decorative arts (the very famous azulejos or glazed tiles, and guilt woodwork). We will also take time to enjoy the view from the cathedral's belfry. The city walls themselves also hide different treasures from times passed that we will look for on our way to another highlight of the city: Carmo church. This tour can be customized to your wishes, just let me know!
- We'll start our walking tour in the 'modern' area of Faro, that is, outside the city walls. Taking a look at the fishing harbor and getting to know this area a bit better before making our way inside the old town. - To enter the town we will pass the town arch, currently known for the several stork nests found on top of it. - Inside the city walls we will visit the Cathedral (closed on Sundays), known for its giant organ and varied side-chapels that you will not want to miss! - We will continue our walk along the water of nature park Ria Formosa and make our way to St. Anthony's street, known for shops and caffès. - We will end the tour at Carmo church, known for its bone chapel (closes for lunch time and on Sundays)!
