Hi, I'm Akio, a National Government-Licensed Guide based in Yokohama. Since 2016, I have had the privilege of hosting over 800 tailored tours across Tokyo, Yokohama, Kamakura, and Hakone. Originally from Kagawa Prefecture, a region blessed with the beauty of the Seto Inland Sea, I spent 30 years working for a global tech company in Tokyo. Working with international colleagues gave me a profound appreciation for Japan through a global lens, inspiring me to transition from a passionate traveler to a professional guide. I have a deep love for authentic cuisine, rich history, and exceptional architecture. Unlike rigid group itineraries, my tours emphasize experiencing "genuine" Japan—connecting you with breathtaking scenery, hidden gems, and the vibrant daily life of the places we visit. Let's craft unforgettable memories together and explore Japan more deeply. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you in Japan!

We had an outstanding day exploring Yokohama with Akio, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. From the moment he met us at our hotel, everything was well organized and stress free. Akio guided us through an incredible itinerary that included Landmark Tower, the Cup Noodles Museum, the historic Red Brick Warehouse, Yokohama Chinatown for a fantastic lunch, the beautiful Sankeien Garden, Yamashita Park, and a relaxing Yokohama Bay Cruise. He also made navigating the train system easy, which gave us much more confidence using public transportation during the rest of our vacation. What really stood out was Akio’s knowledge of Japanese history, culture, and local life. He answered every question with patience, shared fascinating stories at each stop, and tailored the pace of the tour so our family never felt rushed. His communication before and during the tour was excellent, and his recommendations helped us make the most of our time in Yokohama. If you’re looking for a friendly, professional, and knowledgeable guide who truly cares about creating a memorable experience, I highly recommend Akio. Thank you for giving our family such an unforgettable day!

Akio was an excellent guide. We wished we had more time to see more of Yokohama with Akio. He was professional and informative. He did a great job adapting to the weather. It was very wet in the morning so Akio flexed the itinerary and took us to nearby places with displays that were of historical significance. Among the highlights of our day was the visit to the neighborhood noodle restaurant. A great experience. Once the sun appeared, we went on to enjoy the outdoor places on our agenda. Highly recommend Akio as a guide.

Akio was fantastic. He was very thoughtful about our time and ability to navigate the many great places in Yokohama. He was very knowledgeable about the city. We have his service today for a visit to Kamakura.

Akio met us at the cruise terminal for a final (half-)day of touring together; this time for highlights of Yokohama, which included visiting Kitanaka Tower to enjoy the 360-degree views of the city and region, a visit to the baseball stadium environs, and then a walking tour to Perry Park, followed by a tour of the New Grand Hotel and then a tour of Hikawa Maru, a venerable old cargo and passenger ocean liner. Our memories of Tokyo are closely bound up with fond memories of our days with Akio!

Akio-san delivered a life-changing experience for me. If I could give him a million-star rating, I would. A few days before my Yokohama trip, I sent photos from my grandfather's World War II-era album, which included U.S. Army service in Yokohama in 1946, and ask him to show me those places. Akio-san meticulously planned a walking tour of the city, allowing me to walk in my grandpa's shoes for a day, from a skyscraper view of the city to the same Chinese restaurant where my grandpa ate. It was perfect!

Akio was wonderful. We saw so many beautiful sites and he gave us a lot of advice for traveling around by public transportation. We could not have done it without him. We had delicious ramen at the Ramen Museum. We had a great history lesson. Akio made sure we got to our final destination after the tour. He called the taxi and saw us off. Thank you and mahalo Akio.
