Kamakura Highlights Tour from Yokohama

Tour guide Akio combines knowledge about history, culture, nature with a very kind and hospital character. He showed us six very impressive temples and shrines in Kamakura on one day, which we greately enjoyed. We can fully recommend him as a tour guide for Kamakura.

This was my first visit to Japan and I didn't want to do the normal Tokyo tour. I found Aki Tanaka's tour and was excited to see both historical and current cities. The tour did not disappoint. Akio was right on time meeting at my hotel. First we visited Kamakura who's history dates back into the 1200's. Next was Yokohama. Also a beautiful city. Using the rail system was a visual experience in itself. High recommend Aki Tanaka should you visit Tokyo.

We loved our shore excursion from Yokohama to Kamakura with Akio. He helped make the transportation seemless and smooth from hotel pickup until we checked into the cruise ship that afternoon. We loved visiting the giant Buddha and the shrines associated with the samuari. Akio provided just the right amount of information for the whole family and kept the day fun and interesting. Definitely worth the visit to see these amazing sites and highly recommend the tour. Thanks for a great day Akio!

Akio and the driver took us to Kamakura, an hour away, to see Kenchoji Zen Buddhist Temple (serene); then off to Kotokuin Temple (great Buddha Statue); and last, visited Hasedera Temple where beautiful flowering quince were in bloom; fine lunch at Kamakurabori Café Guri; had seen few cherry blossoms but Akio knew of a weeping cherry tree in bloom at Hongakuji Temple. Perfect ending before returning to the ship. By now, dear Akio felt like a longtime friend to us.

Having Akio as guide for our day in Kamakura was a great enhancement to our trip; it allowed us to enjoy the day without worrying about the itinerary and get all the information we needed about history, architecture and politics of each site we visited. Akio even organized train tickets and lunch for us. His communication was excellent and friendly without being intrusive. I would strongly recommend his services to fellow travelers.
