Hi ! I'm Koichi. I was born in Osaka, I studied in Kyoto when I was a university student. Now I live in Shiga which is famous for the biggest lake in Japan. I am a national government licensed tour guide. I do this job as a freelance tour guide. I have been guiding about 160 groups over the past twelve months. I'm also a member of Kyoto City Bus & Subway Information Center. I usually guide my customers mainly in Kansai region including Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Kobe and Shiga by public transportation systems. But If you need a private car please feel free to contact me. Well, I am curious about Japanese history, especially the history of Japan's ancient times since I was raised next to the world biggest mausoleum of the ancient Emperor called "Nintoku" in Sakai-city Osaka which has just become the one of world cultural heritage sites. I dug out some ancient earthen ware when I was a primary school student. I felt I was like the adventure archaeologist "Indiana Jones" (It's our secret!!). That was my hobby. Now, one of my hobbies is outdoor activity such as mountaineering, kayaking, skiing and so on. So I can also take you to some good places where you can enjoy Japanese unique nature. I love to guide foreign visitors from all over the world. I think it is my calling, heavenly given job! Let's go and enjoy together. I hope to see you soon. Have you ever known where the oldest or the biggest wooden structure in the world are? In this tour, we will visit two structures in one day, Todaiji and Horyuji temple. The Great Buddha Hall in Todaiji is the biggest wooden building in the world, originally built in the 8th century. On the other hand, Horyuji is the oldest wooden building, and the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Japan. Well, when I was a junior high school student, I went there on my school trip. I was deeply impressed by the elaborate works of ancient era's people at that time. I would like to share this feeling with you and learn more why they built those structures. Then we will also visit Nara Park. There, you can play with lovely deer and feed them with Shika-Senbei deer cracker!! Then you could realize why deer are roaming around there. Let's learn the rest of other interesting things on the tour, …. to be continued.
-Pick you up at your hote in Kyoto City area or at Kyoto Station -Depart from Kyoto railway station to Nara Station by Kintetsu or line Enjoy the view of train window -Todaiji Great Buddha Hall via Kofukuji and Nara Park You can feed the deer with special crackers in Nara Park. Be careful not to be stolen by the villain deer. -Naramachi Old Town Enjoy shopping and eating, I recommend some local specialty food for lunch, e. g. Kakinoha-Sushi, wrapped with persimmon leaf and so on. -Depart from JR Nara station for JR Horyuji station (We walk down to JR Nara Station along the shopping street from Nara Park. If you like sweets, I would like you to try some Yomogi-Mochi rice-cake on the way. Yummy!! -Horyuji Temple (You can feel the ancient atmosphere, this temple was built by Prince "Shotoko-Taishi" around the 6th to 7th century when Muhammad was walking around Mecca. You may learn why the Prince introduced the Buddhism into Japan etc. -Depart from Horyuji to Kyoto

From Kyoto to Nara, we basically use Kintetsu special Express train, and use JR train on the way back to Kyoto. We would walk around Nara Park and surrounding areas. It would be advisable to use a Taxi appropriately.
