Hello and welcome to Kyoto! I am a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter. You can call me MIYA. I got my certification in 2021 and have been working as a professional guide since January 2023, primarily in Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, and Koyasan. I find Japanese culture to be truly distinctive. And I love Kyoto, which still embodies so much of that unique culture and present to travelers. There are so many precious moments working as a guide. When guests see something and say “Wow!” when they enjoy Kyoto and discover commonalities with their own culture.etc.. My personal interests include eating, drinking, art, movies, and travel. I will try to find restaurants that match your preferences. Here, I would like to start by offering tours that I have already guided visitors many times and I found them popular. For example: Backroad Arashiyama to the famous bamboo grove Kyoto Art Tour Garden Tour Tour of Nishijin, the Heart of Kimono Craftsmanship Nara one Day Tour etc.. And then Future tours I hope to offer here include some lesser-known spots such as: Gion Festival Tour (through July) Osaka Modern Architecture Tour Kyoto Film Tour: Once Called Japan's Hollywood Shiga Prefecture Water City Tour And many more Looking forward to seeing you! Thanks. I hold the following qualifications: Art Certification Kyoto Certification History Certification Authorized Tour Conductor National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter

This tour will visit three or more spots located in eastern Kyoto. I hope to guide you through Japan and Kyoto not only from a Buddhist perspective but also through the lens of art. Besides two highly recommended temples and some Geisya districts, a highlight will be the former home and studio of Kawai Kanjiro who was a central figure in the "Mingei" Movement and an associate of Bernard Leach, and now a museum, located in what was once the heart of Kyoto's ceramics district.
9:00 Meet me at your hotel lobby 9:30 Sanjyu-sangendo temple - this temple is reputed to be the most wondrous for visitors to Japan. (10:30 option - If you'd like, we could visit the nearby Chishaku-in Temple or Yōgen-in Temple, both known for their beautiful fusuma-door paintings, or the Kyoto National Museum. In that case, you might need to skip other places or take a taxi). 10:30 walk or take a taxi to the next stop. 10:45 Kawai Kanjiro museum - the museum is full of items with Mingei (Japanese folk art) style, and you can also see climbing kilns, which are rare in the city. 11:45 walk through Miyagawa-cho, one of the 5 geisha districts in Kyoto. 12:00 Kenninji temple - a temple showcasing paintings by the founder of Rinpa school (a kind of new wave), and beautiful art on fusuma screens and ceiling paintings, but also several outstanding Japanese gardens. 13:30 outside of Kenninji is another Geisya district, and rather city-center. I will help you choose your lunch place and part ways.
