This is a tour visiting famous and popular temples and shrines in Kyoto and Nara. Nara was an ancient capital of Japan for about 70 years from 710 to 984 and Kyoto was an ancient capital of Japan for more than 1000 years from 794 to 1868. Both cities have a lot of historical heritage and some of them are selected as world heritage sites. In one day we can see both of them and you can learn Japanese history. Todaiji temple is famous for the Big statue of Buddha which is the biggest bronze statue of Buddha in the world. Kasuga shrine is an old shrine which was built in 8th century. Both of them stand in Nara park where you can see many deers. Fushimi shrine is famous for one thousands torii (shrine gate). Kenninji temple is the oldest Zen temple in Japan. It is located next to the Gion district however you can feel very quiet and serene atmosphere. The Gion district is famous for Geisha (in Kyoto it is called Geiko) where there are a lot of restaurants and shop.
I pick you up in your hotel and we take a train to Nara. from Nara station we walk or take a bus to Todaiji temple. We are already in Nara Park(deer park) and see a lot of deers. From Todaiji temple we walk to Kasuga shrine about 30-40minutes. On teh way we see beautiful scenery. From Kasuga shrine we take a bus to Nara station. From Nara station we take JR train line to Fushimi Inari shrine. After the shrine we take Keihan private train to Gion station and walk to Kenninji temple and Gion district. We usually end in the Gion district. Or, we can return to your hotel in Kyoto or Osaka.
