Overview of your Kyoto tour

During this tour, we'll explore the Kiyomizu temple, and the Gion district. Kiyomizu temple was built in the 8th century, and is one of our world heritage sites. All buildings are made of wood. Kiyomizu temple is famous for the platforms which are projecting over a cliff. You can see very beautiful view of Kyoto from that platform. The Gion district is located in the center of Kyoto and it is famous for Keisha girls who entertain the guests in particular places called Ochaya (it is a kind of restaurant) If you walk there in the evening and you are lucky, you may see Geisha walking in that area. Let's enjoy this walking tour together!

Highly recommended!! My partner and I had a wonderful tour with Akira-san. We toured in Gion, including the back alleys, visited the magnificent Kiyomizu, and much more, and learned A LOT about the history of the area.Akira-san is very well informed, calm and patient, and he easily answered any questions we had. Akira is a very knowledgeable and likable guide. He started by discussing our wishes and then proposed an agenda based on our plans for the time we were in Kyoto. His knowledge of the history of Kyoto helped us understand and appreciate even more the amazing sights we were seeing. What a wonderful introduction to Kyoto! Aki was patient & kind - he let us ask a million questions, stopped and made sure we took great photos and let us set the pace of the tour. Before hand he was awesome about email communication and confirmed the tour with us after making a custom plan for our time! Thank goodness as San Francisco natives we were used to walking hills :) He listened to our asks and set up a great schedule for our time. Lovely tour guide in a lovely city!

Your Kyoto tour itinerary

From the nearest bus stop we walk up the slope to Kiyomizu temple through the area where a lot of shops are lined up. About 30 minutes walk. From Kiyomizu temple we go to Yasaka shrine through Sannenzaka slope and Ninennzaka slope where we can see the traditional view and feel the traditional atmosphere. From Yasaka shrine we go to the Gion district, about 1 hour walk. We usually end in the Gion district. Or, we can return to your hotel.
