Hello and welcome to Kyoto. My name is Miki, and I was born and raised in Kyoto, the place that shaped who I am. The streets, temples, shrines, gardens, arts and crafts, and traditions here have been part of my life since childhood, and sharing them with visitors has become something I truly love. My father designs traditional Sukiya-style architecture, Japanese gardens, and tea rooms, and he is also a passionate collector of antiques mainly from Japan and Korea. Through his work, I developed an appreciation for the craftsmanship and beauty that exist in so many parts of Japanese culture. My mother is a professional cook, and I grew up watching my parents welcome guests warmly into our home, preparing matcha and meals and creating a comfortable space for people to gather. From them, I learned the spirit of Japanese hospitality known as Omotenashi-the idea of caring for guests with sincerity and attention. These experiences shaped how I see Kyoto and how I share it with visitors today. I began learning English at an international school when I was in elementary school, which gave me the opportunity to communicate with people from many different countries from a young age. Today I live in Kyoto with my husband, who is from Chicago in the United States, and our two children. Over time, I realized how much I enjoy helping people discover the deeper meaning behind the places they visit. Kyoto is a city where every temple, shrine, garden, and small street has a story. Many visitors see the beauty of these places, but when you understand the history and traditions behind them, the experience becomes even more special. I love sharing the stories behind the places we visit and introducing hidden local spots that many visitors might otherwise miss. My goal is to help you experience Kyoto with all five senses and enjoy the culture and traditions that make this city so special. Japanese culture is very deep, and it is impossible to experience everything in just one visit. Whether it is your first time visiting Japan or you are returning to Kyoto, I would be truly honored to share this beautiful city with you. If I can help create even a small special moment in Kyoto that becomes a lasting memory for you, it would be my greatest happiness. I look forward to welcoming you to Kyoto and exploring this beautiful city together.

Welcome to Arashiyama-one of Kyoto’s most beloved destinations, and a place that has been part of my life since childhood. While the area has evolved over time, its timeless beauty still quietly remains for those who know where to look. On this private tour, I will take you beyond the typical route. We will visit Tenryu-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where I will share not only its history but also how to truly appreciate the depth and design of its garden. We will walk through the iconic bamboo grove, and I will guide you to a lesser-known photo spot where you can capture its beauty away from the crowds. Along the way, we may step into quiet streets, offering a more peaceful and intimate side of Arashiyama. Although lunch is not included, I would be happy to recommend options to suit your preferences, here you can relax while enjoying beautiful scenery.
Itinerary is changeable depending on your interests and plans. *We can make small stops aside from major sites. - Start - Meet at your hotel lobby or at Arashiyama Randen Train Station - Kimono Forest - Togetsukyo Bridge - Stroll along Arashiyama's main street - Tenryu-ji Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site) - Bamboo Grove - Discover a hidden bamboo photo spot - Museum Richo / Sukiya-style architecture and a hidden garden - End - Tour ends at Randen Arashiyama Station
