Nijo castle is not just an old castle but it is a great showcase of Japanese art, history and architecture. I will explain deep inside of this Nijo castle taking double time including some secret stories, latest academic findings and so on which are not described in any guide book or online information. After that, we will visit Kyoto Imperial Palace where had been emperor's resident for hundreds years. Finally the tour finishes visiting Nishiki food market street which has been said as "Kitchen of Kyoto" . This tour will take you to the inside of the Japanese art scene, history of architecture and then take you to the center of food culture. You must be satisfied with this sophisticated and unique tour to feel another side of Kyoto than visiting temples & shrines. Recommended to the art, history and food lovers or Kyoto repeaters! We enjoyed the tour with Rick, it was really an "In Depth Analysis...." and we learned a lot about history. Since we were not so much interested in visiting the food market at the end, Rick recommended to visit a traditional merchant house. This was an absolutely great experience and I recommend it to everyone, who would like to see a place of harmony, aesthetics and quietness within the crowded Kyoto. Thank you very much Rick!

We made the right decision in hiring Riochi ( Rick) to tour Kyoto. He was very punctual, pleasant and as a guide was well prepared. He carefully planned a customized tour with all the sights we wanted to see in 2 short days. We got around by bus, rail, subway and walking. Our time in Kyoto was very enjoyable because of Riochi, we highly recommend him.
Rick was wonderful! We had an itinerary set but when we asked about places tourists might miss he suggested a temple that our entire family thought was the highlight of the day. He didn't inundate us with information but answered all the questions we had.
