I came to Japan more than 37 years ago. Soon after I started my studies at Doshisha University in Kyoto. Being the only foreign student in the faculty helped me to understand the people better and learn a lot about Japanese society and the city itself. Whenever I had free time I took my bicycle to ride around Kyoto, to visit new interesting places, and because of its 1200 years history, I haven't seen them all yet. Showing people around Kyoto is always a great adventure, because no matter how many times I visit the same place, it shows me again and again something new that I can share with my guests. Kyoto was a capital of Japan throughout most of the history of the country. This is also a place where what we call Japanese culture was born and refined, and that's why Kyoto is the perfect city to experience the traditional Japan in its original surroundings and atmosphere. Each temple or shrine, each street, each corner tells a story that shaped the heritage of the city and left us a great many legacies to enjoy. Not only the sites, but also original food, clothes, artifacts and customs. Since there are so many interesting things to see and experience in Kyoto and around, if you have any special interest, I can design a special tour just for you. Some travelers like to spend the whole day visiting Zen Gardens, some like to see some places with less tourists around, some enjoy eating local cuisine more than visiting temples, others prefer to spent more time shopping, whatever your preferences are let me know, so I could craft a special tour just for you to enjoy your stay in Kyoto even more. Graduated from Doshisha University, Kyoto. Working as a private tour guide since 2010. Working as an interpreter and translator since 1995. I do not have any restrictions in regard to my guiding, I can offer a full range of experiences.

Suitable for travelers who spend a few days in Kyoto and wish to enjoy some time in the scenic suburbs away from the city center. During the tour we will visit four places in the Arashiyama area that can give you a glimpse at the area that used to be a place where nobles of Kyoto were coming for relaxation for centuries. The famous Togetsu Bridge and the Bamboo Forest are most popular spots in Arashiyama, but climbing a little to the Monkey Park is also a nice experience, not only because you can meet some of the charming animal there but also you can enjoy a wonderful view over the whole city of Kyoto. As it is a private tour, I can adjust the schedule, duration and activities according to your preferences. Please let me know if you should have any special requests.
During this tour we will see: -Arashiyama Togetsu Bridege (something you can't miss visiting Arashiyama area) -Monkey Park (nice hike up the hill to the habitat of snow monkeys) -Bamboo forest and Nonomiya Shrine (walk around a bamboo forest for nice photo experience) -Adashino Nenbutsuji Temple (a quiet temple with hundreds of small stone statues of Jizo Bosatsu) And if you want I am happy to customize the tour for you.
