Ciao! I'm Isabella. Welcome to Venice and my ToursByLocals page! I was born in Padua in 1965 but I've lived in Venice for 40 years. I moved to Venice to attend college and settled down. After graduation in Anglo American literature I worked for the International Movie Festival, at the bookstore of Venice Civic Museums and for a while I devoted myself to teaching. In 1998 I approached tourism and got specialized in cruise excursions. A few years later I became a professional guide and decided to customize tours for private clients. I love food and cooking and that's why when touring I always talk about local specialties and culinary traditions. After many years I still get excited about my adoptive city. I'm very happy when I see people enjoying the time together and get dazzled by Venice beauty! Certified professional guide: Italian National Register of Tourist Guides # 08000034 Tour manager license # 591 (Veneto Region) Port Security Pass # 25231 (Venice Port Authority) Education: University Degree in Anglo-American Literature All my tours can be customized: do not hesitate to contact me! Licensed guides have no restrictions. For tours run on the mainland, I apply to professional drivers.

Overview of your Padua tour

Padua dates back to very ancient times and still counts with evidences of a glorious past as a Roman centre and an enlightened Signoria during Middle Ages. Padua hosts the third oldest University in the Old Continent and that's why important scholars such as Galileo and Copernico lived and taught there. The tour offers an enjoyable walk through its charming centre built around the massive Palazzo della Ragione (Palace of Justice). Many squares are still nowadays dedicated to colorful markets and food stores. But this town is also a real treasure chest of valuable works of art like Giotto's frescoes in the Scrovegni chapel and St Anthony church, museums included in our visit.

Your Padua tour itinerary

We start our day by visiting the Scrovegni chapel: Giotto's masterpiece A nice 10 minutes' walk will take us from Giotto's chapel to the city centre. We can stop for a drink at the historical Pedrocchi coffee house. Let's stroll around the busy market squares (market closed on Sundays) and visit the University's courtyards. Lunch break for lunch in a casual restaurant/pizzeria After lunch we reach one of the largest squares in Europe, Prato della Valle and visit St Antony basilica which houses scupltures by Donatello The following itinerary may vary according to the booking slot of Giotto's Scrovegni Chapel.
