Would you like to embark in a journey for your senses on a local market square or on a wine tasting tour on the Euganean hills, just some Km from the city center? Get in touch with me! I would love to show you the hidden gems of Padova and the countryside. After more that 10 years living abroad I came back to my hometown and I realized how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful town. So I started working as tour guide in Veneto and in the Alps. I use to say: "You need to see the world and chose consciously where to live". I chose Padua. I like exploring the nature and combine trekking with cultural sightseeing. I consider my guests my travel fellows, sharing with them my passion for my home country, its nature, arts and culture. Being a linguist, I like teaching my guests the typical Italian idioms and the basic of the Italian language, enriching their experience in Padua with anecdotes and cultural tips. The idyllic hills south of Padua
Overview of your Padua tour
On our hike we will discover the baroque garden of Valsanzibbio, then we will walk to the medieval village of Arquà Petrarca (2-hour hike, 300 m altitude difference), visit the house of one of the fathers of the Italian language together with Dante. The village is small, compact, and easy to explore on foot - it has a tremendous richness in architecture, history, and art. Yet, it is little known by the tourist masses and you can enjoy their beauty in peace. Arquà Petrarcas one of my favourites because of his views of the vineyards and olive groves. My parents used to bring me here for a walk on Sunday, before having lunch in a nice restaurant. Finally we could indulge in a wine tasting (optional, can be paid separately on site) if you are in the mood.
Your Padua tour itinerary
- We will meet in front of the Garden in Valsanzibbio. - Start your journey walking in the majestic garden, The family Barbarigo, escaping the pestilence in Venice, built a Villa and the garden, which became the meeting point for intellectuals and artists. - Then we will hike the hill behind the garden and arrive to the medieval village of Arquà Petrarca. The village was chosen by the famous poet Petrarca in the 14th century as his residence. We will make a stroll in the idyllic place overlooking the vineyards and the olive trees. - At the end of the hike we might enjoy a glass of wine with cold cuts, ham, cheeses in a local wine shop, (optional). - Then it's time for us to head back to the garden, where we parked our cars or the taxi can pick us up in the village. * This itinerary can be customized to suit your needs and preferences.
