I was born and raised in this area and - thanks to my extensive experience as tour guide, nature guide, wine and olive oil sommelier - I can customize for you an itinerary with the right mix or archaeology, history, art, architecture, wine, food and traditional crafts. We will enjoy the archaeological findings dating back from the Roman domination (when Brindisi was the main port to go to the Orient and Lecce one of the most important city as evidenced by its amphitheater and theater), the heritage of the Knights Templars and crusades, the beauty and the abundance of the Baroque style expressed in the civil and religious architecture. During the tour we can also visit an artisan workshop (to admire the world famous papier-maché, to find the real Made in Italy at an atelier with excellent natural fabrics), enjoy some food tastings: the typical "street food" (i. e. Rustico, Pasticciotto), a coffee at an artisanal roasting bar, excellent wines, extra-virgin olive oil, cheese, cold cuts, ice-cream.
Walking tour of Brindisi : - Norman temple of S. Giovanni al Sepolcro - St. Benedict (an Apulian Romanesque church with its medieval cloister) - S. Pietro degli Schiavoni and Granafei Nervegna Palace with roman archeological findings - Duomo square (with the Cathedral, the so called Portico of the Knights Templar) - Terminal columns of the Appian Way - Down the steps of Virgilio - Promenade alongside the sea. Walking tour of Lecce: - the ancient city gates (Napoli and/or Rudiae or San Biagio); - the baroque architecture of the noble palaces (Carafa, Adorno, Marrese, Palmieri-Guarini, etc. ), the Duomo and its stunning square, the Celestini palace and the astonishing facade of the Basilica di S. Croce and some other churches (S. Irene, S. Matteo, S. Chiara); - the Roman Theatre, Sant'Oronzo square and the Roman Amphitheatre. It's possible to add to the sightseeing some experiences: food and wine tastings, local crafts, city bike tour, the Jewish heritage, the stunning view of the city from the belltower
