I am on a list of researchers with the Isle of Man Family History Society as well as the Manx National Heritage Museum and Archives. I work part time at the archives and library and this has been invaluable in teaching me where and what resources are held at the museum.

From my home in Victorian Douglas we will head north along the coast road, stopping at Laxey an old mining town home to the worlds largest water wheel, over 150 years old. A short stop at the Laxey Woolen Mills to see man power make the local Manx Tartan and other tweeds. Leaving Laxey, we travel to the Neoliothic grave site, King Orry's grave dated 3000BC and gives us a feel for ancient mans ancient monuments to the dead. A visit to the site of the first monastery at Maughold on the island founded in 550 and the site of many of our ancient crosses that were carved by Celts and Vikings is a must as it shows our diverse and interesting social history. This is the birth place of my family and where most of them were buried. A short visit through the town of Ramsey takes us north to the Point of Ayre and the flat glacial plains of the island taking in the small churches and villages along the way. After a lunch break in Ramsey, it is time now to travel l over the mountain
We saw so much of the Isle of Man & Jane was happy to help us make a quick stop at a spot not on her itinerary. She has a deep knowledge of the Isle and a personal interest in everything from genealogy to the TT races. Whatever your interests, Jane finds a way to weave it into the history & modern workings of the isle. Highly recommend.
We undertook three tours with Jane: a walking tour of Douglas, a driving tour of the north and west of the island, and a steam train and driving tour of the south-west of the island. Each tour was fantastic and excellent value for money. Jane is a wonderful guide: polite and knowledgeable, and nothing is too much trouble. She tailored the tours to suit our interests and physical abilities. We only had a limited time on the Isle of Man and Jane ensured we saw as many of the sights as possible. Highly recommended.
Jane was extremely knowledgeable of just about everything from Manx culture, the people, environmental issues concerns and what is being done, the language, myths and towns. We are extremely lucky that we had her as our guide. She is passionate about her career.

My tour with Jane was superb. I had asked for a bespoke tour so that I could learn more about Isle of Man, and if possible, something about my roots there. With her knowledge of history and island families, Jane showed me places and talked about my specific questions, in a day perfectly aligned with my interests. And beyond that, too, of course! I saw all the sights, and especially appreciate Jane's warm feeling for place. What a lovely visit— I'll be back.
Highly recommend this tour. We did a big loop around the island. Lunch in Peel at a pub called The Creek Inn. Recommend scampi and "queenies" in a mornay sauce. Stopped at Niarbyl Beach to see fault line where two plates collide. Rock formations there are fascinating. Don't miss. Toured Manx Aviation Museum. Small museum next to airport. Then off to see Viking sheep (aka Manx Loaghtan sheep). They're a rare breed of sheep native to the Isle of Man. Jane will tailor to your specific interests.
