Overview of your Douglas tour

This is a five-hour tour intended for those who want to take a trip back into the past travelling on a restored Steam Train and visiting one of the best-preserved Norman Castles in the United Kingdom. After Visiting Castletown we will travel to the Sound for Lunch, a breeding ground in the summer for the North Atlantic Grey Seal and have lunch at the Sound Café which has floor to ceiling windows providing uninterrupted views of the Calf of Man and the Sound After lunch a visit Cregneish Folk Village, a favourite of mine because of the native breed sheep that are farmed here. This village was founded in 1935 by Manx National Heritage, where traditional farming methods are in place, the elusive Manx cat is to be found and the native Loaghtan sheep are bred. The village was also used in the making of the film 'Waking Ned (Devine)'in the 1990's one of my favourite island made films. We then return to Douglas. Guests can be picked up at a location of their choice (or cruise ship)

We undertook three tours with Jane: a walking tour of Douglas, a driving tour of the north and west of the island, and a steam train and driving tour of the south-west of the island. Each tour was fantastic and excellent value for money. Jane is a wonderful guide: polite and knowledgeable, and nothing is too much trouble. She tailored the tours to suit our interests and physical abilities. We only had a limited time on the Isle of Man and Jane ensured we saw as many of the sights as possible. Highly recommended.

Jane was great! She managed to avoid the crowds on our private tour which was no small feat. She was knowledgeable, friendly and full of passion for this island that she loved. She was thoughtful and made sure we had time to grab those photo opportunities, and even catch a quick snack. She came prepared to lure Jan (the local Minx cat) to us so we could all enjoy the island mascot! The time flew by, and we all throughly enjoyed our time on the Isle of Mann. Jane is fantastic! We had such a great day with her on the beautiful Isle of Man. Great communication and was right on time. 09:30Pick up 09:50 Travel on the Steam Train to Castletown leaving 10:40 Arrive in Castletown and take a slow stroll to the town to visit the Castle, Old House of Keys and the Old Grammar School 12:15 Leaving Castletown we travel to the Sound 13:45 Visit to Cregneish Village, an authentic folk village set in a rural setting. 14:15 Return to Douglas travelling over the fairy bridge and saying hello to the little people who live on the island
