Overview of your Kochi tour

Kochi was a fishing village in the Kingdom of Kochi in the pre-colonial Kerala. Kochi is also known as the "Queen of Arabian Sea". It was the centre of Indian spice trade for many centuries, because of her rich spice history Kochi was attracted by most of the foreign traders. Kochi was the first European colonies for Portuguese in the colonial India from the year 1500-1663, followed by Dutch and later by the British. It is the old buildings which most clearly reveal this deep-rooted colonial influence. In 1947, when India gained independence from the British colonial rule, Cochin was the first princely state to join the Indian Union willingly. During this tour we travel in local tuk tuk to discover the traditional landmarks of kochi which includes ancient Chinese fishing nets, the historical European settlements like Vasco de gama church and dutch cemetery, the Dutch palace, a museum under ASI, and walk through Jewish street towards Jewish synagogue and also experience the life of local people

We had a wonderful time exploring beautiful Kochi with our guide Biju. He was extremely organized and prompt. We were able to see the main attractions but also had time for some off the beaten track sights and a little time for shopping! Highly highly recommend this tour with Biju!

One of the highlights of our 40 day adventure was our day with Biju in Cochin. From the time he met us until he dropped us off it was magic. The islands of water hyacinths floating down the river to the exciting back ally and small street tuk tuk tour it was an outstanding day. Biju took care of everything and almost intuitively knew what we would like. Thank you Biju.

Biju is one of the best guides we have ever had. As a lifelong resident of Kochi, he is extremely familiar and articulate on the rich history, culture and religions of India. You will see far more with him than on a normal cruise shore excursion. His English is perfect and he is wonderful to be with.

Biju took excellent care of our group of four. He and his driver arrived on time in a lovely air conditioned vehicle. Biju took wonderful care of us and his guidance in his home city was wonderful. He is very accommodating and always made certain we were comfortable. Biju was able to show us the non touristy places not overtaken with other tourists. It was a truly wonderful day. We highly recommend Biju!
