"Whoever travels without a guide, needs two hundred years for a two-day journey. " (Rumi, 13th century AD) Hello dear travellers. I am Dimitrios. I was born in Thessaloniki and grew up in the city. I studied in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and graduated with a BA in History and Archaeology. I left for London, UK where I lived for six years. I never stopped missing home, so I decided to return. Apart from guiding, I am a doctoral candidate in the Aristotle University in History and Moral Philosophy. I sing and have a deep connection with music and I truly love animals. I am a faithful lover of history and philosophy and thus decided to share my passion with travellers and become a tourist guide. I haven't looked back since. It is a job in which I feel I have found my true self. I am based in Thessaloniki, but I deliver tours all around Northern Greece, thematically and spatially diverse. I strongly believe that guides are cultural ambassadors of their land and as such they are tasked with providing an, above all, authentic outlook into the world they originate from. This is my main principle when providing tours. I am licensed to guide throughout Greece, but I am very much in love, for life, with Thessaloniki and the region of Macedonia. Thessaloniki and the wider geographical region of Macedonia have so much to offer to a traveller and have indeed managed to maintain much of their originality. I cordially invite you to book a tour to experience northern Greece in the fullest or get in touch so we can create your one-of-a-kind tour together. - BA in History & Archaeology-Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. - Licensed & Qualified Tourist Guide-Alumnus of the 2-year School of Tourist Guides of Thessaloniki of the Greek Ministry of Tourism. - Master's Degree (MSc)-SOAS, University of London. - Master's Degree (MA)-King's College London. - PhD candidate in History and Moral Philosophy in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. No restrictions.

This is the epitome of a biblical tour. We will follow Paul's footsteps as he set foot in Europe in 49 AD at the port of Neapolis, modern day Kavala. It can be argued that this event changed the history of the world as it is for the first time, with the arrival of Paul, that we trace the foundation and existence of Christian communities on European soil. We will visit the ancient city of Philippi, where Paul for the first time in Europe preaches the Word of God. Going back to Scripture is a must and we will do that as we go. What is also equally important is the historical, archaeological and cultural background which we will always refer to. We will also visit the site of the first baptism in Europe. As a bonus we will have the opportunity to walk on a surviving section of Via Egnatia, the Roman highway Paul used to travel from location to location in this part of the world. We will end our tour by having a short walk in the port city of Kavala/Neapolis to see some important sites.
Drive from Kavala to Philippi. Guided tour in the archaeological site of Philippi. Drive from Philippi to Lydia's baptistery. Guided tour in the baptistery of Lydia. Drive to Kavala. Short guided tour in Kavala. Drive back to the port (if applicable).
