Würzburg Old Town & Wine Culture: A 2.5-Hour Private Experience

Discover Würzburg through the stories and wines that have shaped the city. This private experience brings history, architecture and wine culture together with knowledge and a light touch. During our Old Town walk, we taste and compare three premium Franconian wines. Each opens a different perspective on Würzburg’s landscape, historic estates and traditions. Fascinating personalities and surprising connections ensure that history never feels dry—even before the first wine is poured. I came to Würzburg to study and later married into a Franconian wine family. As a certified Würzburg city guide and Franconian Wine Experience Guide, I will welcome you as my guest and share the city as I know it. The private format leaves time for your interests and questions. I have designed this 2.5-hour experience as an unhurried, step-free walk of 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles). Your tasting includes three 0.1-litre wines, mineral water and bread. Wine is served to guests aged 18 or older.

• Falkenhaus and Market Square We begin at the white-stuccoed Rococo Falkenhaus with an introduction to Würzburg and its history. • Marienkapelle We explore medieval citizens, bishops and artists, including sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider. • Würzburg Cathedral The Cathedral introduces the Prince-Bishops and their influence on the city, architecture and wine estates. • City Hall and Vierröhrenbrunnen Stories of civic life, trade and the River Main reveal another side of Würzburg. • Old Main Bridge We finish with views of Marienberg Fortress, the river and surrounding vineyards. Three tastings are woven into our walk. We compare premium Franconian wines while exploring grape varieties, vineyards, historic estates and the Bocksbeutel.
