Moin (as we say in Bremen) dear guests! My name is Jasmin Nitzschner and I am a passionate tourist guide. As a native of Bremen, strictly speaking, Bremen-North, my love for my hometown is deeply rooted. Even as a child, I loved visiting museums, and on school trips I always felt like I was the only student who was excited when we visited a castle or other historical relics, or when a city tour was announced as part of the program. Since history was always my favorite subject at school, I realized quite early on that I wanted to do something related to history or museums for a professional career. While studying history at the University of Bremen, I discovered how fascinated I was by the history and stories of my hometown. After completing my master's degree, I did a two-year scientific internship at an exhibition in Bremen-North, which also dealt with part of Bremen's history. One of my tasks there was to guide groups of visitors through the exhibition. That was the “foundation stone” for my work as a tourist guide. After completing my internship, I started working as a freelance tourist guide. For a while, I also worked at the Denkort Bunker Valentin memorial site, where my duties included guiding groups of visitors through the memorial. I have now been working as a self-employed tourist guide for over eleven years — more than five of those as my main profession - and I still really enjoy it. In Germany, there is no state-regulated training for tourist guides. For this reason, the Federal Association of Tourist Guides in Germany (BVGD e.V.) has developed a qualification course in collaboration with European partners that meets the European minimum standards for professional tourist guide training with at least 600 hours of theory and practice. I completed this DIN EN certification in 2024. Let me take you on an unforgettable journey through Bremen! I look forward to seeing you! No restrictions

Vegesack is one of Bremen's most historic and maritime districts – a place where you can experience the history of German shipbuilding, seafaring and the Hanseatic merchant tradition in an impressive way. On this exciting guided tour you will follow in the footsteps of shipyard founders, Greenland sailors and wealthy Bremen citizens who built their summer residences here. The historic port laid the foundation for the maritime importance of the town and its surroundings. Today, the port is home to the "Vegesacker Museumshaven" (Vegesack museum port). Recreation and history come together in the beautiful Vegesack City Garden, which dates back to the physician and botanist Wilhelm Albrecht Roth. A part of the city garden is visited during the guided tour. A stroll along part of Weserstrasse takes you past magnificent merchants' villas and stylish captains' houses. During the city tour, you will hear entertaining and surprising stories.

This is a walking tour. For this city tour, it is essential that all participants are able to walk well, as we will be walking a lot and there are no places to sit down along the way, and we will be going down stairs.
