Hi ! I am Gaëlle. I was born in Arras and grew up in the Region where I studied English for 3 years and then Tourism, Art, Culture and Heritage for another 3 years. I have been working in a tourism office for 9 years, so I know pretty well the places to go and their history. I love my Region and I really love sharing it with people. There are so many things to discover in the Region of Lille and that is why I love it so much. In the heart of Europe, the Region is full of history and culture. The landscapes are very different from one side to the other side of the Region and the architecture in the cities is fabulous. But the thing I love the best about my Region and which makes me feel so proud being part of it is that we are really friendly and welcoming! Private tours is the best way to really get close to the culture of a country as we will spend time together, I will be happy to talk about our history, our heritage but also our culture in general. You will be treated as family during your tour, and my only aim is for you to have the best memory ever and the wish to come back soon :) I am flexible in terms of tours customization. I have a Master degree in Tourism, Culture, Heritage and Art and another Master degree in English. I am not a licensed guide and will not be allowed to guide inside the museums.

Overview of your Lille tour
I will show you different sites linked to World War I, which has left huge scars in the North of France. Of course, there are many things to see and we won't have time to see everything but you'll see some of the "must-be-seen" sites so you will have a good idea of that part of our History. We will read a most moving poem from Rudyard Kipling in a British cemetery, you will discover the list of the 580 000 soldiers (all nationalities gathered) died in battle in the region, you will walk in trenches and imagine how it must have been to be a 17-year-old trying to survive there. . . A very moving tour to understand the cruelty of war and never forget. ATTENTION: I am not driving. I will accompany you in your own transportation. The price is fixed, regardless of the number of people (1, 5, 10 people or even more). This full day tour is a suggestion, it can be longer or shorter, the price will then be adjusted accordingly.

- we will visit the Wellington quarry in Arras - you will understnad the difference between War Cemeteries (British, French and German) - you will walk in the trenchees of Vimy Ridge - you will give hommage to the soldiers killed during WWI at the Ring of Remembrance Memorial and and Vimy Ridge Memorial - and many other discoveries in the area according to the time we have together
