Located on the banks of the Rhône River in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region, Avignon is known as the City of the Popes. The City has an exceptional historical heritage and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995, which includes le Palais des Papes (the most well-fortified house in the world" as described by the writer Froissart, the largest gothic palace in Europe"), the surrounding ramparts and the remains of a 12th-century bridge "the Benezet Bridge" over the Rhone (better known as the Pont d'Avignon). Since 1996, Avignon has been the capital of the Côtes du Rhône Wines route. During this tour, we will stroll the medieval streets lined by XVII and XVIII mansions. And you will be immersed in the local, covered market "Les Halles" where you can smell the provencal flavours (lavender, thyme, rosemary, olive oil, tapenade, fougasse. . . ) and shop.

We had a delightful tour of Avignon and learned lots about the history of the city. She even took the time to walk us to the restaurant where we had lunch reservations. Fantastic experience!
Isabelle is delightful and she provided a very informative tour. She was flexible and we tailored the walk to our interests. She was lovely to talk to and very helpful with lots of information concerning Avignon and the surrounding area. She guided us through the Palais des Papes expertly followed by a seamless walk around the town. She was lovely to be with. We really enjoyed our tour with Isabelle and we would highly recommend any experience with her.
Isabel was lovely to have as our guide and she was extra accommodating as we had scheduling problems. The town is lovely and we learned some interesting things about it's history.
Isabelle met us on time, and then filled the time we had together with an engaging and authoritative walk through the history of Avignon. Since that was exactly what we wanted to see and hear, it could not have been better. Besides that, we like her!
Isabel was a wonderful guide! Very knowledgeable of the area and the history. I highly recommend!
Once we meet, we will see the following attractions on this tour: Place de l'Horloge: The town's main square. The Palais des Papes: The largest Gothic palace in the world.
