Bonjour ! Welcome to France. My name is Elisabeth. I am a French teacher and an official licensed guide, mother of twins that have been guiding with passion in English and Spanish for more than 15 years in France. I was born in the Basque Country in the border between France and Spain. With a French mother and a Spanish father, I grew up with two cultures which explains why I have always been extremely interested in cultural differences. I graduated in foreign languages (Spanish and English) and was delighted to spend some time in Santa Barbara to teach French to American students. I then specialized in communication and media and worked in this field for many years. My passion for travelling and meeting new international people was so strong that I decided in my 30's to open a bed and breakfast in Paris and to go back to university to become a licensed tour guide in order to share with travelers from all over the world my passion for France and the "French art de vivre". As a professional guide, I always make sure my tours adapt to the style of the people I guide. I want you to live a unique experience by sharing with you my secret and favourite places in Provence. Provence has so much to offer: tasty food, wonderful monuments, incredible history, ancestral traditions and amazing creative people. . Join me to discover Avignon this colourful city culturally rich, full of artistic and historic pleasures. We will start our day strolling in the old town with its narrow streets and spectacular private mansions from the Renaissance. We will of course go to Avignon's Les Halles market : an impressive covered and lively food and wine market that is really a must in the city. I will also invite you to explore the celebrated Popes' Palace, listed as UNESCO World Heritage site. An immense playground for lovers of architecture and history. Given the Palace's colossal size, looming over the town, you will not be surprised to hear that this is the biggest gothic palace in the world. To take a refreshing break we will end the tour by going to the Pont d'Avignon, the famous local bridge where the popular French song goes " on y danse on y danse".
Fantastic tour with Elisabeth. Her English as fabulous and her knowledge superb. She was so kind and patient with us as we ran into transportation challenges and were nearly 30 minutes late for our tour. She was very understanding and helped us navigate a challenging morning. She got right to the good information and gave us a wonderful morning of insightful and fun history!
Elizabeth was fabulous! So knowledgeable, so warm and friendly and she made the day very special for all of us. The pride she has in her heritage and the people of Provence was clear and her love of history and the arts was palpable. We had a fabulous day and would highly recommend her!
We had a wonderful half day learning about the history of this special place with Elisabet as our guide. She arranged an easy spot for us to meet and provided great advice on parking. We spent a couple of hours wandering around throughout the cobbled city before finish with a tour of the impressive Papal palace and bridge. Her knowledge was deep and her excellent English language skills made things easy and enjoyable. She's an absolute fountain of information.
Elisabeth was fantastic! Knowledgeable, enthusiastic, very energetic. We enjoyed touring Avignon and learning about the culture. The Palais de Papes was just ok, but we did get some great history from Elisabeth. Highly recommend her for any of her tours around Provence.
