Bienvenue en Provence ! My name is Olivier and I am based in La Ciotat, a charming beach resort close to the fishermen village of Cassis, nearby Marseille, Toulon and Aix en Provence. I started my adventure in the tourism industry as a freelance, conducting guided sightseeing tours in Provence and winery tours in the area. To date I have been guiding since 2015, providing a high standard of service and a unique experience to all my customers. I am an enthusiastic person and I love Provence, where I have lived for many years. As I provide visits of Cassis, Marseille, and Aix en Provence, I always take time to do stop to scenic viewpoints for dramatic views and interesting historical facts. Natural park of Luberon and surroundings of Avignon and Rhône valley are some of my favorite areas in northern Provence where I like to share good times there. Feedback and reviews of my customers describe me as a humorous, flexible and courteous person as well as a safe driver! I am trilingual native French and fluent English and Italian. First let's go back in history! In the 14th century, Avignon was the seat of the papacy. The Palais des Papes, an austere-looking fortress, dominates the city, the surrounding ramparts and the remains of a 12th-century bridge over the Rhône. In the 6th century the Benedictine abbey of St André was founded on Mount Andaon, and the village which grew up round it took its name. The city itself was founded by Philippe le Bel and boasts a castle he built, Fort Saint-André. Les Baux de Provence with Its paved streets, renaissance houses will amaze you! It offers spectacular views of the vines, the olive groves, the Camargue… as far as the sea ! Located in the heart of the National park of the Alpilles, Saint Rémy is one of the must of Provence. Its verdant valleys and subtly perfumed, its beautiful houses restored with taste and its charming old streets have made its success . . . The ruins of the Roman city of Glanum, including a triumphal arch, can still be seen on the southern outskirts of the city.
This tour is a must do! Olivier was the absolute best and made the whole tour one of the best we’ve ever been on. He was kind, engaging, and his love for the area makes you fall in love with it too. Thank you Olivier and thank you Avignon for your hospitality.

Olivier was a wonderful tour guide for me on three days that he took me to Le Luberon, Orange and the wine country of Chateauneuf des Papes and an insiders view of Marseilles and environs. Olivier is comfortable in both French and English and was very adaptable to my interests. He is deeply knowledgeable in that part of the world and eager to share his enthusiasm and knowledge. We met artists, winemakers and local owners of restaurants in small villages. We were not rushed and I felt that I was able to see and appreciate Provence through a local’s eyes and experience. In addition, he is a warm and interesting conversationalist. I highly recommend him for private tours of this rich part of France.
Olivier was expert and pleasant, showing flexibility when the lead attraction (Palais de Popes) was unexpectedly closed. He drove us safely to 8 destinations and shared both historic and cultural knowledge. We recommend him to others.
I had never heard of Tours by Locals prior to searching for a tour in Provence in April and I'm so thankful that I stumbled upon it. Olivier was fast on response time and provided an itinerary that was perfect for our group! Oliver tailored our afternoon for a party of 5 perfectly to our requests. We visited a special wine tasting at a winery, drove to the Abbey to see the fields of lavender & then spent a half hour in the village of Gordes. Our afternoon was perfect and was the best ending to our 15 day trip in France. You can't go wrong with Oliver.
