Hi my name is Mario. I am one of those tourguides that didn't start as a tourguide but moved to the profession because of passion! I use to belong to the corporate world, working in finance as my Unviersity degree said I should! However, when I was 24 I decided to do what I really loved in life and that was guiding. I took 4 months off to travel and see how people guide and booking tours around the world, and I got the idea of how I wanted to guide. I decided that I was going to be always myself, honest and transparent. I don't want people to feel that they are with a tourguide but with a friend they came to visit in Ecuador! I came back, started the training to be a tourguide and here I am! I also lived in the United States for couple of months when I was 21 to become fluent in the language, so that won't be barrier for us! This is a short tour for people who don't have a complete free day in Guayaquil but still want to get an overview of the great city it is. In this tour we do not visit the Historical Park, we just visit the Iguana Park, The Malecon 2000 and Las peñas, which are the most important highlights of the city. It can be done at the morning, afternoon or night.
Mario's Quick Tour of Guayaquil was just that--a wonderful overview of the highlights of the city. Mario quickly took us on a stroll down the historic street down the Malecon from our hotel to our awaiting private car. We visited an art gallery, the iguana park, a cathedral and an active area of the Malecon. We made the hike up the 444 steps to see the lighthouse at the top of the city--well worth the trek. I would highly recommend Mario as a tour guide.
Our half day tour was cut short due to unexpected changes to airline schedules, however, Mario went out of his way to make sure we still saw the main highlights. His English was excellent and he was very organised. A very pleasant tour.

He was prompt, interested and interesting, and took us on a well conceived tour that left us with a wonderful impression of Guayaquil, while showing us a great diversity of areas and cultural impacts. I pick up the people at hotel or airport, drive around the city for a while, and then go to the iguana Park. We start walking the Malecon riverside at Mosaico watch up to Santa Ana Hill, where we climb the steps of Las peñas for a great view of the city. Then drop off to airport or hotel.
