From Cacao to Chocolate with a Taste of Guayaquil

Eduardo was truly amazing, by the end of the day we felt we were saying goodbye to family! He is a very welcoming, warm person, the three of us thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and learning about (and tasting) the making of chocolate. We certainly won’t be buying other than the best of the best chocolate when we get home!

Highly recommend this tour as the farm tour was excellent. The lunch at the farm was real good as everyone in our party really enjoyed and our tour guide was the very best. This is one of the best tours we ever did. Even after the farm tour we did a brief city tour and again it was excellent.

Eduardo and Roberto (driver) were prompt and we sped through the crazy traffic to the cacao farm. The farm was very peaceful and interesting - there were so many medical uses of the various leaves and plants on the farm besides the cacao. The chocolate we made was delicious though, and the lunch on the porch was excellent. The city tour gave us an idea of where we wanted to explore on our own the next day. Eduardo was a font of information and shared a lot of general local knowledge. We felt safe at all times. Thank you all (including Alexandria) for a great day!

The day-long tour of Guayaquil and some other points was superb. We went to a farm in the countryside where the owner family grow cacao and make their own chocolate varieties. We also visited a Panama hat shop and toured Guayaquil in depth. Eddie knows his material deeply and thoroughly. He knows the regional birds and botany at the academic/professional level, as well as the history and sites of interest in his country and city.

Our Guayaquil tour with Eddie was outstanding! He shared his intimate knowledge and love of the city and provided a great experience. As an avid bird and nature enthusiast, he also educated us and exposed us to the marvels of this area of Ecuador. Eddie was very flexible and took our interests into consideration when designing the tour. Highly recommend!

We have used Tours By Locals extensively all over the world. They are the best. We have had some amazing tour guides. Eduardo, however, is in a class by himself. Affable, funny, kind, knowledgeable and thorough, spending a day with him is an educational experience while being fun. He is the 7th tour guide that we have used this year on our travels across Europe and Latin America. He is, by far, the best!
