Passionate, enthusiastic, flexible, sympathetic, concise, humorous, friendly - are words that have been used to describe me - this means I am the ideal person to share this beautiful city of Prague with and ensure you get the maximum benefit and enjoyment from your stay right from the start! I am not a local guide working each day on the same itinerary with details of many dates and events and leading groups with a flag from A to B and possibly a microphone! Worked in travel and tours business for 30 years and started my own Swiss company specialising in unique and client orientated programmes and itineraries. Have led and guided groups all over the world and have a special interest in the major European cities. I am from the UK but have lived and worked in Switzerland, London and now Prague. As your private guide, I love to share my enthusiasm, local knowledge and experience by not only showing fellow travellers my present city of residence but also getting to know them, what they like and why they are here. This gives me a chance to make each private tour unique and different and in tune with the clients interests and wishes. My knowledge of art and architecture proves very useful when walking around the historic magical city of Prague even if it is not a specialist Art Nouveau, Czech art or architecture tour as such! I always believe in mixing historical/cultural info with practical advice and local tips on where to eat, take a coffee in a unique setting or change money. This also prevents boredom setting in and gives the visitor a feeling of confidence and a great orientation allowing them to go back to museums or cafes they passed and find their way about like a local. That is why my ORIENTATION style flexible tours prove so popular as they meet the needs of the discerning traveler who cannot always find this with a standard local guide. Meeting a local tour guide/leader should also be a pleasant social experience for both parties. To that end I like to include some time for a coffee or local beer during the tour as this not only gives me a chance to get to know YOU and your interests and aspirations but also to share a great WORLD HERITAGE map of the city with you and explain where we have been or are going! As the honoured guest(s) in this magical city all depends on you and your needs, interests and what you hope to benefit from after the tour. I am here to help you get the maximum out of your time with me. Also available to give evening tours of cafes, bars, clubs etc. or accompany you for dinner at a place to suit your budget and tastes! Owned and managed my own group tours business in Suisse. Designed special tours and itineraries in most major Euro cities for groups as well as bookings, guiding and organising specialist tours. Have a BA/PGCE in Art & Architecture. As exam is in Czech I never got a local guide license! Walking tours use local trams if necessary but car/bus can be booked where needed for Czech tours.

Karlštejn Castle, founded in 1348 by King Charles IV and the unique Chapel of the Holy Cross was built to guard his collections of holy relics and the Imperial Crown Jewels. The castle has Gothic, Renaissance and 19th century parts. It towers over the Berounka River and is 28 miles SW of Prague - a truly spectacular and beautiful setting surrounded by forests. The castle housed the Crown Jewels in the Chapel of the Holy Cross for 200 years - a truly amazing architectural jewel with its rich Gothic decorations! There are 3 different local guided tours: TOUR A - Imperial Rooms of Charles IV - 1 hour. TOUR B - Royal Chapels with unique original decorations that are spellbinding! Allow 90mins. TOUR C - Great Tower, Armoury + Ramparts Panorama View - 40mins. David will accompany you from Prague and share his passion for the history surrounding this important imperial castle. As you climb the hill you start to see the impressive walls and towers. Castle guides will conduct the interior tours
•Meet your local TBL guide at your accommodation or the station. •Leave Prague by train from main station (safe, clean and efficient) or by car/taxi if preferred. •Walk up the impressive hill past souvenir shops and optional stop for a coffee en route. •To end the tour we descend the back route passing a local pub where we can take lunch or a drink if desired. •Return by train or car to Prague where your guide can escort you back to the hotel or a location of your choice. NOTE: •Half day tours allow up to 3 hours at the castle and total almost 5 hours with transport from and to Prague. •Tour A or Tour B can be chosen and time and weather permitting Tour C can be added. •Full Day Excursion (Tour A, B, C) allow up to 4 and a half hours at the castle with a total of 6 and a half hours adding transport time. A Full day excursion can include all 3 tours for a complete experience of the castle rooms, chapels and ramparts + a stop for lunch.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
Usually by frequent train from Prague Main Station taking less than an hour. If clients have a car or wish to rent a taxi this is also an option. The total minimum time for the half day tour is max 5 hours including travel from and to Prague. It is a 20min walk up a hill to get to the castle - in summer there is also a carriage/horse if needed.
