Hi! I am Vojtěch (nick name Vojta, born in 1994), an English-speaking guide. I studied Central European history, culture, and art at Charles University in Prague, and then I studied International Relations for masters degree in the city Pilsen. I have been providing guided tours since 2015, when I got my professional license, in Prague, Terezín Concentration Camp, the spa city of Karlovy Vary, and other UNESCO sites in the Czech Republic. In 2023 I got a professional licence for the Jewish Museum in Prague as well. I was born in Prague, the city I love. I repeatedly visited Florida, the residence of a family friend, and have traveled in many other states of the US. After seven years of my experience with tour guiding, and hundreds of tours I had, I started to enjoy the feeling that my clients were satisfied with the tours. Showing my country's cultural, architectural and historical treasures to foreign travelers makes me happy every time. Why should you visit Prague? Prague lies in the heart of Europe, and it is almost 1200 years old city. The feeling that you can explore streets, buildings and places where our ancestors were living hundreds of years before us will impress you. I will provide you in several hours information about our cultural life, cuisine, traditions, history, politics etc. . . During the tours that I give, you will see Prague Castle - the largest castle complex in central Europe, the Charles Bridge, which is more than 650 years old, Jewish Quarter in Prague, Astronomical Clock - more than 600 years old, and still functional, and many other sites. My interests are history, architecture, languages, politics, traveling, and of course, finding new fun spots in new cities. I loved exploring the monuments of architecture in Rome, Berlin, Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava, Paris, Nuremberg, and Amsterdam. I like also sports, for instance: fitness, biking, snowboarding, swimming. Let me invite you to my wonderful city, and share with you fun during our tours. Let us visit Terezín (Theresienstadt). A Baroque fortress encloses the town, and during World War II, the Nazis evicted its inhabitants and converted it into a concentration camp and ghetto for Jewish prisoners from Czechoslovakia and elsewhere. Museums in several buildings tell about the prisoners' unbearable living conditions and sufferings. Some were ordinary men, women, and children, but among the inmates were dozens of talented artists. Those who survived several months in Terezín faced transport to an extermination camp, where they ended their lives in gas chambers. We will explore living quarters, drawings, personal items, pictures, and fragments from the memories of the few survivors. There will be time to visit Terezín's Small Fortress, a place of suffering and execution of political prisoners. The drive from Prague to Terezín is about one hour. Our air-conditioned minivan or car will take us to both fortresses and other parts of the museum. Upon your request, I am able to customize this tour.
