Thousands of years ago, Xī'ān (then known as Cháng'ān) was the epicentre of Chinese culture, and the beginning and end of the fabled Silk Road. Sitting pretty in the fertile Wei River Valley today, remnants of Xian's ancient past are still visible everywhere. Take a Xian tour and explore the region's history with a knowledgeable local guide. Other travelers will tell you that no trip to China is complete without a visit to Xian's awesome Terracotta Warriors. One of the most significant archaeological finds ever, the 7000 life-size warriors and horses were constructed around 200 BC - and no two are alike. Afterwards, take a stroll through the city's Muslim Quarter, pausing to contemplate the 8th century Grand Mosque, with its unique blend of Chinese and Islamic architecture. You can also listen to traditional musicians play outside Xian's ancient city walls (dating back to the Ming Dynasty). Your Xian tour will leave you utterly enchanted with this special part of China.
