I have been working as a tour guide for over 10 years and also used to work as a national guide who always took tour groups to travel through the country. Now I mainly work as a full time tour guide in Xi'an city. There were 13 dynasties had their capitals established in Xi'an with a time duration of over 1, 100 years. The splendid and glorious dynastic period had long gone with the vanishing of the Great Tang dynasty, but a considerable amount of ancient monuments from the former Chang'an city have survived in the modern city. Like the best preserved city wall of Xi'an, the Bell & Drum Tower, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the well known Great Mosque. It is still a city with compelling beauty and history. People always say in China "If you want to know something about a 3, 000 years old China, you should make a trip to Xi'an. Want to know something about 600 year old China, you should go to Beijing, and a 100 years China, Shanghai. " This shows how important Xi'an is as a tourist destination. As a guide mostly based in Xi'an, I do almost all kinds of tours.
