North Vancouver, Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain - Full Day Tour

This tour was wonderful. I did not know anything about Vancouver. Javier customized a day trip for us that gave us a sense of the city. If I come back to Vancouver I will be looking him up again. It was a great way to spend the day before a long flight home between the cruise and a late flight. We had a very diverse group and he made everyone comfortable and happy. Can't ask for more than that. 5 stars is not enough. I give this tour 7 out of 5.

We had many hours to fill in Vancouver from the time our cruise ship docked until the time our flight home to Brisbane departed. We needed a way to fill some of those hours, that would accommodate our luggage and end with us being dropped at Vancouver International Airport. I googled Tours by Locals and was immediately drawn to a day long tour offered by Javier. We had no preconceived ideas about what we wanted to see in Vancouver, except my husband’s desire to return to Grouse Mountain that he had visited nearly 50 years before. Through the Tours by Locals website (which was very easy to navigate), we contacted Javier to see if he was available on the day we wanted, to ascertain if his vehicle could accommodate our luggage, and to see if he was happy to drop us at the airport at the end of our tour. He responded that he was able to take care of us and our luggage on the day we wanted, and that he was happy to drop us at the airport at the end of the day. Javier was very easy to communicate with and gave us detailed instructions (and provided a video), showing where we would meet him after we debarked our cruise ship (in the cruise terminal car park). We gave Javier free rein to decide how our tour would pan out. He knows Vancouver intimately, and took us to some wonderful places that we would never have discovered without his help. There is insufficient space in this review to list all the places we visited, but suffice to say we had a most amazing day. The weather was kind and Javier even kinder. He was very keen to make sure he showed us places that he thought we’d enjoy, he allowed us as much time as we wanted to wander on foot, and at one point we caught a little Vancouver False Creek ferry from Granville Island (which was a fabulous stop on Javier’s tour), to The Village, home of the 2010 Winter Olympics Athletes Village (now a residential precinct). Javier followed us with the car and met us at The Village ferry dock. Towards the end of the day, after we had visited the Capilano River Salmon Hatchery, we headed to Grouse Mountain for a wonderful gondola ride and a delicious late lunch at the top of the mountain. At all times throughout our day with Javier, he was making sure that the amount of walking wasn’t overwhelming for us (we’re both elderly), that we were fed and watered appropriately and that there were comfort stops throughout the day. We cannot recommend Javier highly enough as a tour host. His knowledge of Vancouver and surrounds is encyclopaedic, he obviously loves and is proud of his city, and his impeccably maintained, new and very comfortable vehicle ensures the miles slip by seamlessly. He is an excellent, very safe and very calm driver who would make any passenger feel relaxed. Simply the best, and we hope to use his services when next we are in Vancouver. He is such an asset to Tours by Locals.

A very enjoyable tour to fish hatchery, Capilano bridge and Grouse mountain. There were 4 of us and Javier was knowledgeable, kind and very patient with me because of mobility issues. I appreciated him looking for alternatives on our tour for me. Thank you Javier. Absolutely would recommend him and this tour

Well what can I say…this tour fulfilled all of our expectations and more. We really couldn’t have picked a more thoughtful and informative guide, thank you Javier. What a treat to get an insiders look into everything that fabulous Vancouver has to offer. We really have fallen in love with this city. When we come back, which we will, we will be sure to look up Javier. We were particularly interested in viewing the natural environment surrounding the city. Javier planned a full day of activities for us and we loved all of them. We would never have discovered all of the hidden gems that we were shown on our own. We had the best time, thanks Javier.

What a FANTASTIC DAY!!!! Javier was an amazing guide. He tailored the tour for my father and I perfectly, including things that we both enjoyed. It was a jam packed day, with the perfect mix of culture, views, history, and adventure! My father has mobility issues, and Javier was the sweetest, keeping him company for a bit, while I ran off to partake of a more strenuous part of the tour by myself. He really made the day special. One of the highlights of our month long trip! I cannot recommend it highly enough! 10 out of 5 stars!
