My story doing tours in Vancouver began around 12 years ago when I was working for a Chinese company and my mom called me asking to help her friend, Gloria, who was coming to Vancouver with a group of 35 people from South America. They were taking a cruise to Alaska and had only the morning to visit Vancouver. I didn't know Gloria, but I wanted to help, so I prepared a presentation highlighting the key places her and her group should visit. I gave her an itinerary, a map and spoke with her a couple times believing that was the most I could do to help her. However, to my great surprise, Gloria called me a third time asking me to be their tour guide. She noticed my passion, the knowledge I had of the city and my goodwill. That was my first tour, about 12 years ago. Since then, I've done over 1000 tours, and I've been able to refine my itinerary to showcase the best of this beautiful city. Along the way I have learned much more about the city's rich history, hidden gems, best angles for photos, and fascinating stories that make this city so wonderful. Despite my many tours done, my enthusiasm to share the beauty of the city has never wavered. It's truly a joy to see the awe and appreciation people's faces as I guide them through breathtaking sights. I never leave my house the day of the tour thinking I am going to work, I leave excited to meet new people and show them this breathtaking city. I view my clients as friends or family members and offer them as much hospitality as I possibly can. While the itineraries of my tours offer a helpful guide my goal is to create an unforgettable moment by savoring the little things as well such as enjoying a hot coffee in a cold day or perhaps an ice cream in a warm summer day. I own two vehicles, a minivan for 6 passengers and bigger van for 14 passengers plus the driver, as part of the British Columbia passenger rules, both vehicles passed a commercial inspection every 6 months, and are insured with a commercial insurance taking into account their passenger capacity. - Master's in business (MBA) in the University of British Columbia - Class 4 unrestricted driver license permit, which means I am authorized to drive a vehicle with a maximum capacity of 25 passengers. such as school buses, ambulances or limousines. - Passenger transportation authorization number 75302, honestly a very hard authorization to get but it is the only way to do tours while driving a vehicle with passengers.

Overview of your Vancouver tour

Vancouver deserves a few days to visit, in my opinion ideally 4. However, my clients occasionally do not have the luxury of those extra days, perhaps you are disembarking from a cruise and have a flight to catch that night, or you have a long layover and find yourself with only one day to visit the city. To accommodate to this tight schedule, I chose to structure this tour based on the most popular sites from my additional two tours, the City Tour and the Tour to North Vancouver. The tour sets out to visit downtown Vancouver, visiting the old part of the city (Gastown and Chinatown), the market at Granville Island, Stanley Park, and Olympic Village. We aim to cross the Lions Gate Bridge towards North Vancouver where we will visit visit BC's most popular attraction, the Capilano Suspension Bridge. If you're afraid of heights, or have difficulty walking, we can visit Grouse Mountain instead of the Suspension Bridge.

When I first contacted Javier about his well-rated City Highlights tour, I said we had just one day in Vancouver, and he wisely recommended his full day tour. I loved the itinerary and appreciated that he could accommodate our group of 7, our luggage and would drop us off at our respective hotels at the end of the day. Knowing that our group included 3 teenagers, he suggested the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Throughout the planning process, Javier responded quickly and graciously answered all of my questions. I don’t think I have enough superlatives to describe the day itself. It’s not easy to engage adults ranging in age from 52 to 81 and 3 teenagers, but he did that. Using maps, photographs and stories, he educated us about Vancouver, a city he obviously loves. We circumnavigated the city, seeing important sites from the car and by walking. He paced our day perfectly and even found a lunch restaurant that satisfied everyone’s tastes and dietary limitations. He remained upbeat, informative and pleasant for the entire day. As promised, he dropped off each group at their respective hotels at the end of a long day. Look no further than Javier if you’re visiting Vancouver and want a top notch guide.

Javier was a great guide. He picked up 6 of us and all our luggage in his large van and by using the city map, he explained our route to different and very interesting places in Vancouver. It was really a good idea. We stopped for snacks and lunch, which was great for our 2 teenagers. Because our flight back to NY was very late he stayed with us through out and then took us to the airport. We would highly recommend him.

Excellent tour to see the highlights of the city in one day. Hiighly recommend Javier as the tour guide. His choice of places to see showed us the city and natural spaces and his knowlege of the area and its history gave us a unique insight into the city and its people. He gave us an honest and open view of all the major parts of the city. The suspension bridge and surrounding park is a must do for all ages. Javier was more than a good guide, he made the day fun and enjoyable. If you only have one day and want to see and learn as much as possible, then this is the tour and the guide. Thank you Javier for a great tour. We learned a lot about your city and have memories we will never forget.

Javier was an outstanding tour guide. He provided good communication leading up to the tour and let us know exactly where he would pick us up. He provided great history about the city as we drove and made it interactive and fun. We hit all the highlights of Vancouver, including Downtown, Granville Island, the Market, a water taxi, Olympic Village, Stanley Park, the salmon hatchery, and Capilano Suspension Bridge. This tour was definitely worth the money! Great tour if you are coming off a cruise and have a later flight.

Javier was incredibly knowledgeable and took his time showing us the best of Vancouver. He was patient, easygoing, and made all of us feel very comfortable throughout the tour. We never felt rushed, and he shared so much interesting information about the city and local spots we probably would have never found on our own. He’s also an amazing photographer and helped capture some of the best memories from our trip. The tour felt very personalized, and you can tell he genuinely cares about making sure his guests have a great experience. I would definitely book with him again and highly recommend him to anyone visiting Vancouver!
