Hello, everyone. I am Conrad - one of Ottawa's most experienced tour guides (over 500 tours with TBL), certainly Ottawa's most reviewed guide. As a home-town boy who has lived here for over 60 years, I can say I am known for clear and correct knowledge of the history of Ottawa and environs. My family has roots here going back over 120 years. Since graduating from the University of Ottawa (BA Hon, History, '78) I have been giving tours for groups, individuals, and for travel companies. Now, as an independent guide with With ToursByLocals I can better serve you by creating custom tours to fit your needs. Whether you want a small group short walking tour of the downtown area, a car tour, or a full day on a bus, I can give you the most comprehensive, entertaining tour of your entire holiday. Let me show you my home town as only a local could. Giving tours since 1978. Lifetime resident of Ottawa. Education: U of Ottawa, BA (HON) History, '78. Qualified in First Aid and CPR. Recent police background check. I'm one of the good guys! I do only one tour a day. My calendar may show the whole day as open, but that is deliberate, allowing you to choose a start time in the morning or afternoon. Please check with me before booking to ensure we can get together at the time of your choice.

There is a lot to see and do in the National Capital Region. If you have never been to Ottawa, you may be a bit overwhelmed by the choices, but I can do the picking and choosing for you to ensure you get the most comprehensive tour in the time you have available. My favourite type of tour is the step-on-guide type. I meet your bus at your hotel, or some convenient point in the city, and take it from there. This tour is especially good at Tulip Festival time in spring or the Fall Raphsody event in autumn. During the tour there are places where we will park, get out, and do a bit of walking, such as at Rideau Hall.
Due to time, weather, traffic restraints, we will have to be selective in seeing the city, In no particular order: - We will visit Parliament Hill and its environs, including the National War Memorial, a spin around the Byward Market. - Then we will go to Rockliffe via the Ceremonial Route. - We will see official government residences, Rideau Hall, the enclave of Rockliffe Park, the parkways. - Then I will take you to the Experimental Farm with its Arboretum and ornamental gardens. - We will make a side trip to the Hull sector of Gatineau, our neighbouring city on the north side of the Ottawa River. (Drop off can be arranged to wherever you wish) Due to the long term restoration project at Parliament Hill, the Changing of the Guard ceremony has been put on hold for the next couple of years. But we still have skating on the Canal during Winterlude. My tours can be adjusted to take advantage of these events
