I'm born and have been living in Plovdiv all my life except for five and a half years when I was studying Tourism management in Varna and two long summers working as a student in a hotel in Maine, USA. I love traveling around the world to experience local cultures, meet different people, learn about them and explore ancient civilizations. I'm also very interested in hiking, cycling, skiing, beautiful music from all over the world and exciting books. I'm glad to show off my area as there are many amazing landmarks and sceneries to be discovered in Plovdiv region and Bulgaria. I have long years of experience in guiding guests from many countries with different backgrounds and from all ages. I'm a Bulgarian state licensed tour guide, knowledgeable about my country, positive and smiling, helpful and patient with my clients and always with a natural friendly approach. Overview of your Plovdiv tour

First we visit the impressive Asen's fortress, nearby the pretty town of Asenovgrad. There we see the remarkable remains of King Ivan Assen's fortress - a wise ruler of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. The fortress ancient church dating from the 13-th century painted with some authentic pieces of iconography is a real architectural jewel. Then we drive to the second largest monastery in Bulgaria - Bachkovo, founded in 1083 and one of the most sacred places in Bulgarian history. Inside the monastery, we visit the main church of the Virgin Mary built in 1604 where a valuable miracle-working icon of the Virgin Mary from 1310 is kept. Our last stop for the day is the Wonderful Bridges situated at 1450 m. a. s. l. in the heart of the lovely Rhodope Mountains. This unique natural phenomenon consists of two rocky bridges (height of 45 m) over a small river. The marble bridges were formed by an earthquake and the erosive activity of the once high-water river.

This was a fantastic tour with an amazing guide. Kamen is knowledgeable about the history and the area. We really appreciated all the detail and stories that he shared at the monastery. It was so much better than our experiences on other monastery tours. The Wonderful Bridges were gorgeous and Kamen knew all the locations to take us to for the best views. We also had a delicious lunch there. We also enjoyed a great visit to Asen's Fortress. Kamen speaks excellent English; he is fun, interesting and a great driver. I highly recommend Kamen and would book him again in a heartbeat.

Touring with Kamen was like being out with a friend with an inordinate knowledge of Bulgaria.I did a good bit of research before visiting, educating myself about the country's history. Kamen artfully filled in the gaps.We brought it up centuries to talk about communist times & our experiences with that period of history. I was impressed by his explanation of the particulars of the Orthodox Bulgarian Church. I also loved his tour of the spectacular natural bridges.Along the way we joked & had a great lunch

Top guide. Excellent English, engaging. Highly knowledgeable about history and context of what we toured. Skilled driver on curvy, narrow mountain roads. Gorgeous scenery with many wildflowers (May 19) with mix of rain and sun. Morning rain kept others away so sites were wonderfully peaceful. Probably would not have enjoyed the sites as much if there were crowds, particularly the marble bridges. Liked the history and views from the Fortress the best. Highly recommend him.

A nice souvenir from Bulgaria would be a rose oil perfume or colorful traditional crockery sold on the same tourist street together with local mountain herbs, honey, tasty dairy products and homemade jam. By the Wonderful Bridges you can buy semiprecious stones found in the Rhodope Mountains, homemade socks, honey, jam and herbs. In summer the zipline between the 2 rock bridges is open for the more adventurous travelers.
