Both Plovdiv and Sofia are ancient settlements with rich history. This tour is unique as it gives you the opportunity to properly both Sofia and Plovdiv! Born in the capital, I learned it's history not only from ancient years but also I was and I am a contemporary of the changes - political and cultural since 1989 and I can transfer to you the vibe of the big place yet with its cosy parks and neoclassical buildings, sitting at a crossroad between different eras and historical events! On its turn Plovdiv, another favourite place of mine is so relaxing with the atmosphere of its Old Town bringing you back to the early 19th century in a combination with downtown attractive promenade where modern shops and Roman ruins are together in a nice composition.
Most important sites on your itinerary are: Sofia: * St. Alexander Nevski - the biggest Orthodox cathedral on the Balkans * St. Sophia Basilica - with the tombs underground a unique rwpresentative of early Christian epoque; * Bulgarian Parliament, * The monument of King Liberator - the Emperor Alexander 2nd of Russia; *Russian church with its magnificent emerald bulbous domes; * The former Royal Palace, * National Theatre with the Sofia city Gardens, * Bulgarian National Bank, * Office of the Bulgarian President with * The ruins of Ancient Serdica - massive area with ruins from the Roman times 2nd to 5th century AD and the highlight of * Sofia city central mineral water springs At about 1 pm we will head off to Plovdiv, where you're going to enjoy: * A walk along the Old town; * Visit will meet unique architecture mid 19th century manor houses, * Ancient Roman Theatre - one of the best preserved amphitheatres; * Roman stadium * Ottoman active mosque from 14th century + city downtown quaint area * Kapana
