I'm born and have been living in Plovdiv all my life except for five and a half years when I was studying Tourism management in Varna and two long summers working as a student in a hotel in Maine, USA. I love traveling around the world to experience local cultures, meet different people, learn about them and explore ancient civilizations. I'm also very interested in hiking, cycling, skiing, beautiful music from all over the world and exciting books. I'm glad to show off my area as there are many amazing landmarks and sceneries to be discovered in Plovdiv region and Bulgaria. I have long years of experience in guiding guests from many countries with different backgrounds and from all ages. I'm a Bulgarian state licensed tour guide, knowledgeable about my country, positive and smiling, helpful and patient with my clients and always with a natural friendly approach. The rose is one of the symbols of Bulgaria. The country produces the best rose oil in the world since 1664. Now Bulgaria manufactures about 70% of all rose oil in the world. The damask rose is being grown in the notorious Rose valley in Central Bulgaria. In Kazanlak town we explore the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site - the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak which impresses the visitor with its unique frescoes from IV B. C. Our next stop is the small but charming Rose museum in Kazanlak which is the only one of its kind in the world. Then we discover the Thracian tomb Golyama Kosmatka dating from the end of V century B. C. About 20 gold objects were found in that tomb including a sophisticated golden wreath with oak leaves, a golden wide wine glass, golden heads of a goddess and a deer, silver shell with golden decoration, a bronze man's head etc. All these valuable findings are exhibited in the Historical Museum of Kazanlak that we visit optionally as well. Our last stop is the colorful Shipka Memorial Church.
We had a wonderful day with Kamen. He went the extra mile to coordinate an additional tour at a Rose Farm/Distillery. We were very lucky to have a personal tour with the owner during peak harvest! Kamen's English was perfect and his car pristine. We very much enjoyed his grasp of the long Bulgarian history, the sites we visited, and his perspective given his worldly travels. I would recommend Kamen for any of his tours.
This was a great tour with a wonderful guide. The only bummer was no roses in bloom, but that's because it was October. We had a nice visit in the Rose Museum in Kazanlak, followed by a great visit to the History Museum there, where Kamen added a lot of details so that we could get a good grasp of what we were seeing - and what we would see when we toured the Thracian tombs. We also had a delicious lunch together. Kamen speaks excellent English; he is fun, interesting and a great driver. I highly recommend Kamen and would book him again without hesitation.
We had a great day with Kamen on Sunday. We stayed in Plovdiv, so Kamen drove us to Kazanlak, arranged the tickets for the rose festival and took us to some amazing places places including the rose museum and Thracian tombs. Kamen was very knowledgeable about the local area, rose oil production and the region's history. He was good company and even laughed at our jokes!!! Thanks Kamen.

We loved this tour. It gave us a chance to see the landscape out of Plovdiv and we saw a lot during the day. We loved the Thracian tombs, Rose Museum, artifacts museum and the beautiful church. Lunch was delicious and fun too!
Kamen has the knowledge and understanding to bring the area in question closer to you. He is open to conversations that create understanding of what you see in its current context. When a few things went wrong to no fault of his, he was able to provide spontaneous alternatives that were at least as rewarding if not more than the original programme resulting in a day I will never forget and will be one of the absolute highlights of my visit to Bulgaria.
