My name is Pierre, I'm half Swiss and half Brazilian. I was born and raised in Brazil but I lived in Geneva, Switzerland, for 7 years, where I studied and graduated in Communications and Language. I also worked as a librarian on an Art School called HEAD (Haute école d'art et de design). I decided to return to Brazil in 2017 and I started looking for new jobs. My father is also a tour guide and he's been guiding in the Amazon for 35 years, so I decided to go on some tours with him and another tour guide friend. I worked with them as a photographer for 1 year until I decided I was ready to guide myself. I completely fell in love with this work and I've been guiding since 2018. Sometimes I think I was born to be a tour guide, like father, like son. My father has worked as a tour guide in many movies like Medicine Man, Anaconda, Fitzcarraldo and even on a Michael Jackson song called "The Earth Song". I have many special stories to tell about the Amazon, stories that only my father and I can share. I speak 5 languages and I'm passionate for nature, history, anthropology, archeology, medicinal plants and literature. My tours are enriched by these topics. I also have great knowledge about birds. I absolutely love my work and I have great pleasure in showing the beauty and the secrets of the Amazon. Confucius, the Chinese philosopher said : "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. " and that's what I did! I'm very flexible, so we can work together to make a customized tour that suits you. I work really hard to provide the best possible experience in the Amazon! ·Official Tour Guide License by Cadastur ·2nd Generation Tour Guide ·Graduate of Communications and Language (Geneva, Switzerland) I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Are you interested in seeing animals in the Amazon? Well, welcome to Maica Lake, located in the east of Santarém. You'll learn the history of the confederate families that ended up in the Amazon after the Civil War and will understand why Victorian naturalists such as Henry Walter Bates, Alfred Russel Wallace and Richard Spruce extensively visited Maica. You'll see the oldest rubber plantation in Santarém too! The variety of animals that we can spot in Maica is huge. We will be able to see small birds such as Amazon Kingfisher, Yellow-billed Tern, Oriole Blackbird as well as amazing hawks like Savanna Hawk, Black-collared hawk and Yellow-headed Caracara. We may also come across very special birds like Toucans, Yellow-rumped caciques and a prehistoric bird called Hoatzin. In addition to that, we will try to spot black howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, three-toed sloths and iguanas. All of this on a comfortable wooden boat! The following itinerary could be customized to best meet your specific preferences:
-For people lodged here: I'll pick you up at your hotel or point of preference. -For cruise ship passengers: I'll pick you up inside the port and will get you to the boat. -We'll start by seeing the meeting of waters and understanding why the waters do not mix it. -We'll see some parts of Santarém and learn of its history. -Around 45 mins later, we'll reach the entrance of Maica, so keep an eye on the water because you might spot dolphins! -We'll enter Maica and start spotting a variety of birds. -Once there, we'll get a speedboat and will be able to enter even deeper into Maica where a normal boat cannot go, to spot the animals even closer and to try to find the prehistoric animal Hoatzin! -After this speedboat tour, we will get back to our original boat and have an Amazonian lunch prepared by our local chef, accompanied by an amazing view of the jungle and the river. -After lunch we'll go back to Santarem. -We'll drop you at the port or in the same original location that we started the tour from.
