My name is Pierre, I'm half Swiss and half Brazilian. I was born and raised in Brazil but I lived in Geneva, Switzerland, for 7 years, where I studied and graduated in Communications and Language. I also worked as a librarian on an Art School called HEAD (Haute école d'art et de design). I decided to return to Brazil in 2017 and I started looking for new jobs. My father is also a tour guide and he's been guiding in the Amazon for 35 years, so I decided to go on some tours with him and another tour guide friend. I worked with them as a photographer for 1 year until I decided I was ready to guide myself. I completely fell in love with this work and I've been guiding since 2018. Sometimes I think I was born to be a tour guide, like father, like son. My father has worked as a tour guide in many movies like Medicine Man, Anaconda, Fitzcarraldo and even on a Michael Jackson song called "The Earth Song". I have many special stories to tell about the Amazon, stories that only my father and I can share. I speak 5 languages and I'm passionate for nature, history, anthropology, archeology, medicinal plants and literature. My tours are enriched by these topics. I also have great knowledge about birds. I absolutely love my work and I have great pleasure in showing the beauty and the secrets of the Amazon. Overview of your Santarem tour
Welcome to Alter do Chao, "the most beautiful fresh water beach in the world" according to the English newspaper The Guardian. Our tour consists mainly in a canoe trip that slowly navigates the maze formed by the partly submerged vegetation over the waters, a phenomenon that happens with the flooding of the rivers of the region and the increasing volume of water from the streams that flow into Green Lake. Those water sources form a beautiful Amazonian ecosystem called "igapó". From Old Tupi (Indian language), Igapó means "root forest, a word used in Brazil for black water-flooded forests in the Amazon biome. These forests and similar swamp forests are seasonally inundated with freshwater, which allow us to navigate over them.

-For people lodged here: I'll pick you up in your hotel or at a meeting point of your preference. ·For cruiser ship passengers : I'll pick you where the tenders drop you off, which is by the beach. Our speedboat will be waiting for us close by. -We will start by seeing the Love Island, which is the main beach in Alter do Chão. -We will enter the Green Lake, which has 6 water sources from the largest freshwater aquifer in the world. We will visit 4 of them. One is called Enchanted Forest, which is a flooded forest! -We will get into canoes and make a tour inside this magical amazonian biome, contemplating the nature and the peacefulness. -After that, we'll continue our tour by the lake contemplating different species of birds. -After we've covered all we can in the time we had, we will drop you off close by the tenders or in the same original location that we started the tour from. This itinerary can be customized to best meet your specific needs.
