My name is Pierre, I'm half Swiss and half Brazilian. I was born and raised in Brazil but I lived in Geneva, Switzerland, for 7 years, where I studied and graduated in Communications and Language. I also worked as a librarian on an Art School called HEAD (Haute école d'art et de design). I decided to return to Brazil in 2017 and I started looking for new jobs. My father is also a tour guide and he's been guiding in the Amazon for 35 years, so I decided to go on some tours with him and another tour guide friend. I worked with them as a photographer for 1 year until I decided I was ready to guide myself. I completely fell in love with this work and I've been guiding since 2018. Sometimes I think I was born to be a tour guide, like father, like son. My father has worked as a tour guide in many movies like Medicine Man, Anaconda, Fitzcarraldo and even on a Michael Jackson song called "The Earth Song". I have many special stories to tell about the Amazon, stories that only my father and I can share. I speak 5 languages and I'm passionate for nature, history, anthropology, archeology, medicinal plants and literature. My tours are enriched by these topics. I also have great knowledge about birds. I absolutely love my work and I have great pleasure in showing the beauty and the secrets of the Amazon. Confucius, the Chinese philosopher said : "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. " and that's what I did! I'm very flexible, so we can work together to make a customized tour that suits you. I work really hard to provide the best possible experience in the Amazon! ·Official Tour Guide License by Cadastur ·2nd Generation Tour Guide ·Graduate of Communications and Language (Geneva, Switzerland) I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Welcome to Alter do Chao, "the most beautiful fresh water beach in the world" according to the English newspaper The Guardian. Our tour consists mainly in a canoe trip that slowly navigates the maze formed by the partly submerged vegetation over the waters, a phenomenon that happens with the flooding of the rivers of the region and the increasing volume of water from the streams that flow into Green Lake. Those water sources form a beautiful Amazonian ecosystem called "igapó". From Old Tupi (Indian language), Igapó means "root forest, a word used in Brazil for black water-flooded forests in the Amazon biome. These forests and similar swamp forests are seasonally inundated with freshwater, which allow us to navigate over them.
Pierre did an outstanding job as our tour guide. Everything went as advertised and the personal touch of having refreshments at the end of the tour was well done. Pierre was very informative as to the details of the Amazon River as well as the forest. Very knowledgeable with the bird population, and the plant and tree species. Well done Pierre. Thank you.
I can't possibly say enough good things about this guide and his tours--both in Santarem and Alter Do Chao. Both destinations selected by Pierre were outstanding for natural interest and beauty, as well as historical and cultural context added by Pierre. His mother was involved in preparing local delicious snacks and drinks served in beautiful outdoor locations, always including special small surprise gifts of local products. The tours might seem expensive but in fact they are priceless.
