This tour takes you approximately 100miles west of Belize City to the modern day Maya Village of San Antonio where you will see and learn how these people live. Also, you will learn and practice to make pottery and enjoy a Mayan lunch. After San Antonio we travel to Xunantunich, which house the 2nd tallest man ( modern day ) made structure and flourishes between 500BC and 900AD (during the time of great Mayan Collapse). In addition you also get in chronological order, the history and culture of Belize, with special emphasis on the Maya, especially the one that occupied this city. Some aspects of the tour that my guest are usually excited about are the experience of crossing the river on a hand cranked ferry, climbing the tallest structure there and looking across into Guatemala and hearing the story behind the name XUNANTUNICH.
Tour starts with a drive 80 miles West to the village of San Antonio. Approximately 2hrs. Mayan Cultural presentation. 3 hrs. Drive to the site of Xunantunich. Approximately 30 mins. Visit site. Guided Tour of Xunantunich. Approximately 1hr. 30mins. Climbing to the top of the temple 30 mins (optional) Depart Xunantunich and return to Belize City, where we started Approximately 2 hrs This tour can be customized upon request. For groups of 1 to 4 guests I use a Honda Odyssy clean and air- conditioned 7 passanger van, with more than enough space for 4 people. For groups of 5 to 10 guest I use a Ford E350, clean and air-conditioned 14 passenger van, with more than enough space for10 people.
