Hello and welcome to the beautiful country of Belize. My name is Griffith, I'm a tour guide with 20yrs. experience in the Belize District area. I'm 69yrs. old married for 40yrs, with 2 children and 8 grandchildren. I was born and raised in Belize City surrounded by Belize's rich culture and history. By profession I was an Electrical Technician. I studied Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in Belize, worked for the local Electricity company for 26 yrs, 10 of them as a supervisor. In 2001 when the Cruise Ship port in Belize City was opened, and ships started to make frequent visits to my country, I took the tour guide training, got my license and started to do tours part time. I soon realiszed that I love meeting new people and love telling them about my beautiful country. So I gave up electrical work and started guiding full time, which I have enjoyed ever since, and I have been able to share my knowledge and experience with travelers from all around the world. Belize is a small country on the east coast of Central America, Bordered in the North by Mexico, West and South by Guatemala and the east by the Caribbean Sea. Being a former British Colony, makes us the only English speaking country in Central America. One of my country's greatest assets is the friendliness of its people, which visitors quickly find out shortly after arriving. We are a unique country, with a wide variety of ethnicity, customs and cultures, which sometimes cause Belize to be referred to as a melting pot. My recognized ability to communicate with people from many different countries, backgrounds, cultures and customs, have enabled me to lead tour groups with success. My main objective is to play a more significant role in promoting Belize especially through tourism, by utilizing my vast experience and knowledge to offer travellers a unique and exclusive glimpse of my country, accompanied by me as their personal tour guide in Belize. Being flexible, having fun and making sure that my travelers get the best experience during their vacation and leave with pleasant memories of my country, is my primary motivation and goal. I provide all tours in the area of the Belize District and can also customize tours to any other part of the country. The more popular tours are City Tour, City and Country, Maya sites, Cave Tubing, and Zip Lining. My tours are all informal so no tour is conducted the same way twice. I customize my tours to meet the needs and interest of each individual visitor. I take this opportunity to personally invite you to visit my country, of which I'm so proud. This tour takes you approximately 80 miles out of Belize City, near to my Western Border with Gutemala, where the indigenous Maya build a city that flourished between 500BC and 900AD until the great Maya Collapse and today house's the second tallest man made structure in the country. Some aspects of this tour that my guests are ussually excited about are the experience of crossing the river on the hand cranked ferry, climbing the tallest structure there and looking across into Guatemala and the story behind the name "XUNANTUNICH". In addition you also get, in chronological order, the History and Culture of Belize, with special emphasis on the Maya, especially the ones that occupied this City. The passion that I have for my country and it's diverse cultures, makes me love to impart my knowledge and experience to my guests.
Griffith is your guide! Let me tell you, I travel extensively and when I want to see a place or thing, I want the right person with me. He was it! We traveled safely in his clean van. he looked out after me and was super responsible every where we went. He grew up here and knows the history, culture, and all the key locations...and even some off the path gems! Don't hesitate - go with Griffith!
This was a great custom tour, and Griffith was a very knowledgeable guide. He even arranged for a local guide with keen insights on Mayan culture and remnants of Xunantunich and Cahal Pech. I would fondly remember the stories around rich history of Belize, the diverse cultures of settlements, the stories around chiclet/chewing gum history, sipping on local coconut water.... :) Of course, the Mayan Ruins and the details around it were breath-taking. I wish I could have extended the tour onwards to Guatemala... Will come back someday
We were not sure what to expect in Belize. A lot of comments suggest that it is not the safest place to visit due to high crime rates. Our experience with Griffith was absolutely fantastic. He is extremely knowledgeable, very personable and completely flexible. We had a really great day and we got a really good feel for Belize. Our tour finished with a drive through the South side of the city (which tourists are advised to avoid) and we got to see the very challenging conditions in which people live. It could not have been a better day; we would thoroughly recommend Griffith to anyone visiting Belize.
I really appreciate Griffith adaptability he tried to show us all that we booked. Unfortunately it was on me for being late but he certainly made it worthwhile to see out main objective the Mayan ruins'. Thank you he was a patient and helpful guide throughout the day.

Griffith was a fantastic guide. He gave us a very thorough tour of the north side of the city. The drive from the city is long but we were entertained and educated the entire way. Griffith is well versed in the history, government and current affairs of Belize. He also informed us about the geography of the regions and local plants and animals. After touring the ruins we had lunch and then toured the south side of the city. A very pleasant day.
Tour starts with a North side City Tour and a drive through the countryside, passing several villages along the way. Approximately 2 1/2hrs. Arrive at the site, use of restroom, stretching legs and Appling sun screen/ bug spray ( if necessary ). Approximately 15 mins. Visit site. Guided Tour of Xunantunich. Approximately 2 hrs. Depart site and travel to restaurant in San Ignacio for lunch. Approximately 1 1/2 hrs. Depart San Ignacio, return to Belize City, finishing with a Southside City Tour, which passes through the comercial center of the city, just before ending up where we started. Approximately 2 hrs
