I was born on the island of Jamaica, West Indies, moved to the states and graduated from Columbia University as a civil engineer, lived in New York City most of my life, but escaped from America to live on Saipan in February of 2006! It's been one of the top 3 decisions I've ever made! Saipan is a tropical paradise! Since moving here, I have created numerous Saipan-related websites, written several books about Saipan's life/culture/economy, offered entrepreneurial workshops, written a business column for 5 years for the Saipan Tribune, and currently offer unique private Saipan day tours like the ones featured on ToursbyLocals to help others discover and experience the Saipan I know and love! Overview of your Saipan tour

In addition to most of the "Saipan in a Day" sites, we can take a trek down to the mysterious and foreboding Forbidden Island and visit a pool in a secret cave, and/or we can take a winding trek through the luscious foliage on our way to Bird Island, and/or we can trek over the sharp rocks to Turtle Lookout Point in Marpi! Walt holds a B. S. in Civil Engineering from Columbia University, and relocated from New York City to Saipan in Feb 2006. He has written 7 books, launched over 20 websites, written a weekly column in the Saipan Tribune and launched fundraisers all devoted to sharing the culture and history of these islands. In 2007, he received a Senate Resolution for "his numerous accomplishments with and without the Commonwealth; Expressing gratitude for his efforts for the betterment of the people of the Commonwealth, " AND, was the 2021 recipient of the Governor's Humanities Award for Research and Publication in the Humanities, Outstanding Humanities Teacher, and Preservation of CNMI History.

A friend and I decided to extend our time in the South Pacific by visiting Saipan on our own. We were looking for both a hiking experience and to learn about the history of Saipan. Walt did an outstanding job of addressing both of these requests. We utilized his usual itinerary as the basis to begin and adjusted as we went. We began with a hike to Forbidden Island. He took us around the island to see all the sites we were interested - a mix of cultural sites and WW II. We highly recommend Walt.

This was my first visit to Saipan, and I surely had a wonderful experience! The guide arranged a viewing of a private collection of relics belonging to one of the local residents. My 10-year-old son and I were truely impressed. I also would like to mention that the guide catered to my specific request for making my "Must Do in Saipan" happen. Definitely the best tour guide I have ever had!!

We have been on many tours in many countries and this tour is among the best. Walt is a transplant from Jamaica via NYC but has fallen in love with Saipan. He is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastically shares that knowledge. He is incredibly attentive to every detail. The tour was exhaustive and insightful. We felt we really knew Saipan at its conclusion. If I had a complaint, it would be the high cost. Although initially reluctant because of the price, we are glad we chose to do the tour.
