IMPORTANT: If calendar is unavailable, contact me! I MAY be available to make an exception during the rainy season! I was born on the island of Jamaica, West Indies, moved to the states and graduated from Columbia University as a civil engineer, lived in New York City most of my life, but escaped from America to live on Saipan in February of 2006! It's been one of the top 3 decisions I've ever made! Saipan is a tropical paradise! Since moving here, I have created numerous Saipan-related websites, written several books about Saipan's life/culture/economy, offered entrepreneurial workshops, written a business column for 5 years for the Saipan Tribune, and currently offer unique private Saipan day tours like the ones featured on ToursbyLocals to help others discover and experience the Saipan I know and love! As an island boy myself, with an engineer's attention to detail, an outsider's objectivity and an author's knack for narrative and nuance, I believe my saipan tours can offer you a glimpse of Saipan that few others can and that few visitors to the island will ever experience! 1. I am the recipient of SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 15-54 by THE SENATE FIFTEENTH NORTHERN MARIANAS COMMONWEALTH LEGISLATURE recognizing me for "[my] numerous accomplishments with and without the Commonwealth; Expressing gratitude for [my] efforts for the betterment of the people of the Commonwealth" 2. I have researched and written the following books (a) Saipan Living, (b) Doing Business on Saipan, (c) Chicken Feathers & Garlic Skin: Diary of a Chinese Garment Factory Girl on Saipan (d) Jamaican on Saipan which have afforded me a unique perspective life, culture, business and politics on the island of Saipan 3. I have written a business column (The Saipanpreneur Project) for five years for the Saipan Tribune newspaper Visits to Mount Tapachao (also Tapatchao), the highest point on the island of Saipan will require rental of a special vehicle at additional charge. History, culture and amazing beauty are yours to experience! Traverse the island and see the amazing mix of indigenous Chamorros and Carolinians, Americans, Filipinos, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Thai, Bangladeshis (and at least one Jamaican) on Saipan! This one-of-a-kind tour is offered by one of Saipan's most unique residents: Walt holds a B. S. in Civil Engineering from Columbia University, and relocated from New York City to Saipan in Feb 2006. He has written 7 books, launched over 20 websites, written a weekly column in the Saipan Tribune and launched fundraisers all devoted to sharing the culture and history of these islands. In 2007, he received a Senate Resolution for "his numerous accomplishments with and without the Commonwealth; Expressing gratitude for his efforts for the betterment of the people of the Commonwealth, " AND, was the 2021 recipient of the Governor's Humanities Award for Research and Publication in the Humanities, Outstanding Humanities Teacher, and Preservation of CNMI History.
