Are you looking for a private tour with a local expert and author of two Galveston books? I'm it! I'm a co-author of "100 Things to Do in Galveston Before You Die," published by Reedy Press, and coming soon, "Secret Galveston: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful and Obscure." Over the years, I've written more than 200 blogs on Galveston offering travel tips on what to see and do. And, I've given tours to numerous visiting travel writers to see the sites on the island. I'm a Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA). For you Aggies out there, I'm also a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station. I've always enjoyed showing off my hometown and after taking a similar tour in Amsterdam I wanted to bring this tour option home. I love the idea of small, personal tours by a local expert. I'm happy to tailor a walking tour to your interests. Thank you for considering me as your tour guide. Certified Tourism Ambassador

There was a time when Galveston was known as the Wall Street of the Southwest. Like New Orleans, Galveston grew as a city because of its natural harbor, making it a center for commerce and business. The 1900 Storm and other economic challenges changed that until visionaries, like George P. Mitchell and the Galveston Historical Foundation, saved and restored these historic buildings to revive and create a thriving historic downtown. During this 90-minute walking tour you'll hear about the history of Galveston and what has made this historic downtown a "go-to" for visitors again. This tour begins at 9 am on Saturdays and Sundays at 23rd and Strand (Saengergest Park). Take advantage of free parking on 25th Street between Strand and Postoffice.
