At ToursByLocals, we believe that how you explore is just as important as where you go. That’s why every Baltimore tour is private, flexible, and built around you: Move at your own pace, skip the crowds, make connections and follow your curiosity. Find local guides offering private tours in Baltimore for every interest, including:

History tours: Stand at Fort McHenry to hear how the Star‑Spangled Banner was written, then trace Frederick Douglass’s life in Fell’s Point and pause at his rowhouse sites. Add Edgar Allan Poe’s gravesite and a peek into Lexington Market for food history.

Layover tours: From BWI or Penn Station, loop the Inner Harbor, climb Federal Hill for a skyline photo, and try a crab cake at a neighbourhood market before heading back. With extra time, your guide can time a visit to Fort McHenry or the Walters Art Museum.

Architecture tours: Wander Mount Vernon to see the Washington Monument, the Peabody Library’s soaring stacks, and ornate brownstones, then compare rowhouse styles in Bolton Hill. Continue to the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower for clock‑room mechanics and finish with art deco details at the Senator Theatre.

Inner Harbor and Mount Vernon are walkable, and the Charm City Circulator, Light RailLink, and Metro SubwayLink help with longer hops. For spread‑out sites like Fort McHenry or the Senator Theatre, tours with private transportation or a chauffeured vehicle save time.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all itinerary, you can tailor your private tour to match your interests, pace and personality with a local who knows Baltimore inside and out.

From Baltimore, you can spin out to nearby cities and shore towns for easy day trips, and your tour can focus on history, food, or the outdoors while keeping travel time short.

Annapolis: walk compact brick streets, see waterfront life up close, and get a feel for early American history around the State House and the U.S. Naval Academy area; boatyards, crab shacks, and bayside views suit anyone who likes maritime culture, and your guide can help you navigate quieter lanes and local seafood spots.

Washington, DC: check off monuments on the National Mall, add a museum or two, then switch gears to neighbourhood eats in Georgetown or Capitol Hill; if you like architecture, memorial design, and strong photo stops, your guide helps pace the route so you cover a lot without rushing.

Gettysburg: stand on key battlefield ground like Little Round Top and Cemetery Ridge, then explore the town’s square and side streets; ideal for American history fans who want clear context, and your guide can connect the sites in an easy loop.

Harpers Ferry: a small hillside town at the meeting of two rivers, with Civil War stories, John Brown history, and short trails to overlooks; good for light hiking mixed with heritage, and your guide knows the best viewpoints and how to avoid the busiest paths.

St. Michaels and the Eastern Shore: classic Chesapeake scenery with a walkable harbour, clapboard houses, and working boats, plus casual seafood; a nice fit if you’re into coastal towns and low-key browsing, and your guide can tie in nearby villages or scenic back roads.
